Default MIDI Drum pad and "dropped" beats -- SOLVED

I recently bought a KAT Percussion drum pad/controller, and have been testing it out with different vst instruments in Reaper. I'm having an issue where various beats seem not to speak. For instance, if I'm playing steady eighth notes, every 7th or 8th note will not sound.

I first thought the pad was defective, but I realized the audio output of its own internal sound patches was fine, and none of the notes were dropping out.

Then I noticed that when I looked at the MIDI roll in Reaper that some of the notes that weren't speaking were being recorded, but were just had no note length. Is there a minimum note length for some/all vst's to respond? If so, is there a way of forcing reaper to record a minimum note length? Or any other suggestions?

Solved: I finally found a suggested JSFX to fix the "zero" length notes, in this thread:

"MIDI Note Length Control" JSFX fixes the problem.
