Hey Scarlton you're really a genius!
I mean, this is like Chinese to me... but thanks for some insight anyway.
So at least I learned something!
Do you want me to log any more modes - knobs - encoders for you?
Now that we sorted things out, it's really not a big deal!
I'll do do whatever I can to help you!

No more logs from my side here?
Just curious...

Sorry strinxx, no updates from my end. I've been really busy the last week. I'll try to find some time to work on it this weekend and have a new build for Monday.

Don't hurry, take your time.
I'm really just curious... ok, to be honest, I can't wait!
It's absolutely great what you're doing here!
For me, the Houston is of much better quality than any of my MCUs here.
I mean it's much older, but everything works like in the beginning, super quiet faders, smooth jog-wheel, not a single hickup...
After 3 years with the Mackies - jumpy jog-wheel, some of the buttons need to be pressed real hard... stuff like that...
So I'm really looking forward to hopefully see the Houston fully integrated within Reaper. That'd be so cool!
Let me know if there's anything I can do on my side - it's not much anyway...

Sorry again, I've been terribly busy and haven't had any time to spend on this. I haven't disappeared though, and I hope to find some time soon to get a new build out.

Wow, I've really dropped the ball on this. Terribly sorry strinxx and etl17. I'm in the middle of tracking a new project, so maybe I can pull out the Houston when I start mixing to give me some incentive.
etl17 - I'm considering publishing the source code, it would certainly make collaborating easier if anyone was interested in building this out. I'll post back here with any updates.

Hi. Just found this thread. The work you all have been doing is completely fantastic! I've just ditched Cubase (and, for a number of reasons, haven't done anything for years) for Reaper and so I'm very much a newbie. BUT I have just dug out my old Houston from the shed. I'll let it dry out for a while and power it up and see if it still works. I'm still building a new system based around Reaper. I'll let you know how it goes.
If all works I'd be happy to get involved. Please don't let this one die!

OK, PC up and running, got the old Houston out of the shed, plugged it and - zilch. I used half a can of switch cleaner on it and hid it under the bed for a fortnight and hey presto works fine. Now I've downloaded the reaper -houston dll and put it in the ReaperX64 plugin directory, started Reaper and was able to install Steinberg Houston dev 1,2 as a control surface. BUT when I got to defining the midi ports for the plugin to use I get an "error in opening Midi inputs and outputs". I am using an M-audio midisport 2x2. I know you are all v busy but are you able to help a newbie out?
Cheers

OK
Fixed. Still get the midi io error, just click ok and works fine (took complete reinstall of the Maudio midi drivers and 2 hard boots. I think that everyone who has worked on this project deserves massive respect. I really hope that development will continue - I am not a coder but can use midiyoke, midiox and would be happy to act as a test bed (Ive always enjoyed testing beds .
Cheers

Is there any chance you'd give me the copy of the source code? I'm admiring your work and would like to see if I could port it to Ableton

cmodica - Now that I have moved to a macbook as my main machine, I would love to get xcode set up to compile reaper plugins. Although I have no idea how to do that. I'm sure I can get some help from someone here on the forum to get started on that.
kalda - I have planned to make the source code available on github, but I haven't had a chance to set up the repo yet. There's a thread from a user called inthepipeline where he posted MIDI logs of the protocol for the Houston, that's where I got started. You can probably turn up the thread in a search.

It's really good to see that you have had time to get this going scarlton
Wow, I did my bit so long ago that I'd forgotten all about it!
The power of Reaper goes on and on.

Houston -> Mackie emulation
It has not directly something to do with this thread, but I also don‘t want to start a new thread, as my patch doesn‘t have to do with Reaper.
Just want to inform, that I have created a Houston -> Mackie emulation and a emulation with which one can use the Houston as a normal generic controller with every DAW. You can download it here:
https://forum.pdpatchrepo.info/topic...-pro-emulation
Hope, this helps a small nieche of Houston Fanboys.
;-D
