Yeah, I thought the way you did at first, then played with it a bit, and I think it feels right now.
It also blanks properly if no track is selected.

If you select a track on the screen and it requires the surface to bank left (to a lowered numbered track) the track one to the right of the selected track will appear on the first fader in the whole setup. So if I select track 36, track 37 will appear on the first fader.
In an ideal world, I'd like to be able to set (in a pref) which fader in the setup a selected track maps to.This would probably be the first fader of the MCU (actually fader 17 in my setup) because it's right in front of me.
This behaviour only needs to constrained by hitting the end stops, as it were. So if the selected track is in the first 16, it just displays on the like numbered fader- so there are no 'blank' channels (let's not go back there again ) It behaves as if I'd scrolled manually to the first track (ie tracks 1-40 are displayed)
Similarly, if the selected track is in the last 40, it behaves as if I had scrolled to the last track.

Just tossing out some Sunday morning Pinning/Scrolling ideas for discussion:
These are not things you do as frequently as, say selecting tracks, so we can use some more complex modifiers -- e.g. Shift+Control+someButton
Even thought Select already has Normal, Shift, and Control behaviour defined, it is the natural place to put Pin, Scroll Channel set, etc.
So...
Shift+Control+Select TogglePin
Shift+Control+Alt+Select TogglePinToSelectedChannel
Shift+Alt+Select SetScrollLinkPosition
Needless to say, you can map these any way you want, I'm just using this example to start the discussion.
Thoughts/suggestions more than welcomed...

Yay Parameters displaying correctly, thanks.
Also, regarding NoAction not blanking rowA, turns out the only thing it won't blank is the text that's present when the C4 starts up ie "Mackie C4 Commanderblahetc" When that is overwritten by plugin parameters, it blanks just fine.

Sounds good to me What's the difference between TogglePin and TogglePinToSelectedChannel?
I have some spare time next week, so will be bashing away at the latest build and reporting back on stability etc. Also will be trying to find out why Waves plugins are such a PITA as far as mapping is concerned. Currently all my Waves maps refuse to accept any input from the surface, but will feedback to the surface just fine when the control is changed on the screen. Doh!

Great news, thanks for testing, especially what I cannot conveniently test here

TogglePin pins/unpins the Track currently on a Channel to that Channel.
TogglePinToSelected Track (will rename for clarity) pins/unpins whatever Track is selected to the Channel, it's dynamic.

Just made me think, I remember with the original csi build, the knob turn control could be set to intervals/increments.
For the SSL emus etc.
Is there any scope for that, in the new builds?

latest build populating from right to left for me.
1 track > shows on ch 8 of MCU
10 tracks > show on 7,8 of XT then 1-8 on MCU
Should be 1-8 on XT and 1,2 on MCU
Adding more new tracks leaves track 1 on channel 7 of XT have to bank to see new tracks
select track 1 in reaper only showing ch 2 on XT
Selecting high number in reaper displays on ch 7 of MCU unless last track.
Also Reaper crashes on closing if "Show Plugin Parameters" is enabled.

Sounds like a messed up config somehow, please post your CSI.ini contents.

Do you mean VST monitor, if so, it's fine here on Mac, anyone else have this issue on Win 7?

Yes the VST monitor, sorry I wasn't at the Studio to get the correct terminology.
As reaper was closing the project VST Monitor was spilling out all the VST info, then everything hung and ultimately reaper error/crash.
I'll try a blank and re-crank on it ASAP.
BTW where should I store FX Zones? (I haven't started on that end yet, but things are looking pretty stable as far as the old bugs on windows go. (reopening config, adding and deleting tracks).
So I'm fairly confidently hopeful that the file structures are set now. lol and MixMonkeys Excel sheet is as sweet as...

Geoff means the .ini file in the CSI folder that contains the data specific to your setup. You can't use the one in the download, that's Geoff's setup.
I think he includes it as an example, so that the CSI prefs window won't be blank when you first open it. Delete 'HomePage' and fill in your own setup.
I would suggest looking in all the DL folders and deleteing anything that isn't relevant to your setup. So, in Surfaces for example, you would be left with MCU.mst, MCUXT.mst and C4.mst. In Zones, you would have: C4_A and MCU folders.

In the C4_A folder in the Zones folder. You can use sub-folders if you want. My path is: CSI/Zones/C4_A/FX_Zones/(Manufacturer)

Yes I setup as
XT using XT and MCU(FX)
MCU using MCU and MCU(FX)
C4 using C4 and C4A(FX)
Same setup I used in the version (2 back) which I have as (stable)
But I'm going to delete all the CSI and start over.
(weird thing is the "stable" version is setup exactly the same, but works as expected).
I've rolled back to that one again, but I'll give it another go. If I'm still seeing the same results I'll upload the ini

Looked into this a bit deeper, turns out VST Monitor has been broken since July 17, so you are somehow using an older dll, you need to get the right dll going and things should straighten out.

Yeah that makes sense, the one I keep going back to (Mr Stable) I've down as v2019.06.29
I'll get it all out of there and start with a fresh DL.
I'll keep you posted.

Can someone post the new syntax for SENDS? I'm using the build from 6/29, I haven't been able to follow all the changes recently but I know I saw something about sends, but the info wasn't complete.
Currently I have ToggleMapSends assigned to the SEND button on the surface. When pressed it throws send params onto the C4. The C4 zone file includes the send Zon.
In the new build, that action does nothing but light up the SEND button. What do I need to keep that same type of action, toggle on/off? I saw something about needing some new syntax but it seemed incomplete and/or I didn't understand.
dave
PS, MixMonkey, the Zon file creator is friggin awesome, thank you very much!
PSS, but for some reason, now none of my fx are showing up. All other programmed buttons work on C4, just no FX params. Hmm.
PSSS, I ordered a new power supply, TBC...

Make sure your Sends Zone contains the statement shown in bold:
Code:
Zone Send|1-8
SelectedTrackNavigator
DisplayUpper| TrackSendNameDisplay
TrackTouch+DisplayUpper| TrackSendVolumeDisplay
Mute| TrackSendMute
Fader| TrackSendVolume
TrackTouch+Fader| TrackSendVolume
FaderTouch| TrackTouch
ZoneEnd
and your HomeZone contains the statement shown in bold:
Code:
Zone Home
OnTrackSelection MapSelectedTrackSendsToWidgets
IncludedZones
Buttons
Channel|1-4
IncludedZonesEnd
ZoneEnd

Get the latest build, a lot has changed/been fixed.
In C4.zon
Code:
Zone Send|1-8
SelectedTrackNavigator
DisplayUpperD| TrackSendNameDisplay
DisplayLowerD| TrackSendVolumeDisplay
RotaryPushD| TrackSendMute
RotaryD| TrackSendVolume
ZoneEnd
Also, if you map a button on the C4 to ToggleMapSends and map a button on the MCU to ToggleMapSends(as you've done) you can have the sends appear on either faders on the MCU or rotaries on the C4, depending on which surface you activate them from (make sure Sync Zones Across Surfaces is unchecked)
Good luck with the new PSU Post one of the FX.zon files, it's early days with the configurator

not sure what happened before, but new build has sorted them,(pilot error maybe)
Although what i did notice.
if you have a project and delete track(s) to blank, display clears and faders go to zero.
if you close a project, faders zero but display remanins.
If you add a new track with a blank name over something with that previously had a name, name remains. Until you name track.

Currently, CSI bank location, current Page, and pinned Tracks are stored in the Reaper project (well, pinned Tracks is broken)
Does anyone really need these in their workflow, or are they just cool.
The reason -- they introduce unwanted coupling between a particular project and a particular CSI setup.
Say, 5 years down the road you open an old Reaper project that you setup when you had that big old console thingy, but now you have the ultra cool quantum console, the info in the project is at least useless, and might even mess everything up.
Do you really need to remember exactly where you were banked, what page you were on, and what tracks were pinned ?
If we get a good set of use cases, we'll see how well we can do the implementation, but it sure is a lot cleaner if we can eliminate this unwanted coupling, future proofing and all that...

I think the pinning function and it being remembered was important when we needed it for the master fader
Now I think its a cool function but now I have no real use where it need to be remembered, same goes for any project with bank and current page.
Opening cross platform or surface is surely far better than anything else.

You would think
The tricky bit is to figure out when a project is closing, the various ways I've tried so far are all a bust, still working on it...

I got blinking pans a few builds back, when pan width were over lapping. Maybe it's the same kinda thing, two commands trying to exist at the same time.
I don't have that in the current build

Yup, as @Freex said, that's a sure sign of double mappings.
Look for Pan (and the other blinking buttons) mapped to 2 things in your Zone files.
And always make sure you have the latest build, things are moving fairly fast right now

Look for Pan (and the other blinking buttons) mapped to 2 things in your Zone files.

Ok, but I did modify the pan/width per the info on the previous page of this thread (which didn't work for me, actually). I'm not sure if this video is with that change or not, but I did try it and basically same issue.
Also, what about the blinking automation buttons (right side of surface video)? Should be nothing double mapped about those, and they blink. I'm still using build from 6/29 because it works the best for me,but even that build the READ automation button blinks...but only that one.
I'll look for double mappings later today, but I haven't touched anything in the ProX zon file in months. If I go back to an even older build, the blinking goes away with the same zon file.

Uncovered a couple of bugs in the MapFocusedTrackFXToWidgets scheme.
The first is a little convoluted, so bear with me.
It only affects plugins with more than one Zone and only then when they are not the first plugin on a channel.
When they are in the second, third slot etc, the first Zone of parameters will work just fine, but any other Zones will only display and control a single (incorrect) parameter across all the widgets. The parameter being controlled is the first parameter in the plugin in the first slot.
I can reproduce this with different multi-Zone plugins, all of which work fine in the first slot, as do all my single zone plugins, regardless of position.
The second bug is rather more mundane. When a focussed plugin window is closed, DisplayUpper isn't blanked. DisplayLower is blanked and all the controls zero, though.

Yup, like project closing, it turns out to be tricky (or I'm just stupid ) to find out when the Focused plugin window closes.

Would that explain why the same plugin works fine when it's in the first slot?

I see, but DisplayLower and the controls blank/zero. How do they know the focussed window closed?

Not really, I'm just fishing, it does seem strange...

Would it be easier to modify OnTrackSelection MapSelectedTrackFXToWidgets to have slot navigation?
It could toggle like ToggleMapSends and there'd be no doubt when it was activated.
