Default How to ignore file extensions when naming tracks/items/etc.

Is there any way Reaper can ignore file extensions when naming tracks/items/etc. I have my mastering workflow about 90% automated now, but I always end up with "filename.flac.wav" in the end, or something similar. Is there a preference for this?

The best thing is to let Reaper handle all filename extension stuff.

If you are selecting the correct render option for output file format you want, Reaper will append the correct file extensions anyway.

If you are not getting the filename extensions you expect it is because you are selecting the wrong render options.

I don't think you're understanding me.

When dragging in a file, it automatically names the track/item/region "filename.extension". When I render these out, they become "filename.oldextension.newextension". For example: "bass.flac.wav" or "song1.wav.wav". I want to eliminate the initial file extension as it is redundant.

There's a script on ReaTeam repo which set track name to source and remove the extension.

Well, it sort of works but doesn't help with item/region names, which I guess is really my issue. I'll keep digging.
