Default Help with really basic theming

Using V4.0 Alpha27b

i can't seem to change the default color of my MIDI notes! I go into the Theme Editor and change the colors on:

MIDI Editor note, unselected (midi_note_colormap_overrides)
MIDI Editor note, selected (midi_note_colormap_overrides)

but the colors always stay the same.. they never change! I am doing something wrong? Sorry i'm really a noob on theming LOL.

Here's what the default colors look like:

I just want unselected notes to be red and leave selected notes as they are..

See the brackets: MIDI note color map overrides which means the colors refer to the midi_colormap.png in the themes folder.

If you would like to use the colors in the theme editor remove the png.
If you would like to set a different png as a default colormap go to:

preferences/media/midi/set default colrmap

regards

Thanks a lot Janne83 that did the trick. I renamed the midi_note_colormap to .bak just in case.

There's only one slight problem that i didn't foresee: Now that i changed the colors via the theme editor i don't get that smooth color transition when i drag the velocity handle on the note it's always the same color. I guess it needs the midi_note_colormap for that to work?

Yes you can see the smooth color gradient in the colormap png.

Maybe you could try some other png from many other themes that are available.Just point it as the default one.No need to change its location.

Yeah i'll try a few pngs from some themes but i think in the end i'm gonna need to make my own to suit my needs. Is there any freeware software i can use to make it?

One of them would be Gimp.It runs layer based as PS
As far as I know it works on widows and os x( on os x it needs x11 from the install dvd of osx)
For bot versions look at their downloads tab at the bottom.
