Those could be with a modifier , not default drag imo.

How it is supposed to work ?

When I click on "Insert into a sample player into a new track", there is no new track and no new ReaSamplOmatic5000...

At this point I don't think I'll be using r5000 tho. A proper cells interface should be considered by Devs, something Like battery cells. Anyway I am really happy with latest stuff comming. Thank you.

This this this +100, but by default I see it as:
1. If drag-n-drop onto existing track, just drop the sample
2. If drag-n-drop between tracks, create new RS5000 instrument with sample.

...
I'd even suggest *within Media Explorer* the samples be MIDI playable. You could immediately audition the sample as an instrument before ever committing it to the project. Navigate through a sample folder, hitting some keys on each sample to hear it in action, drag/click it out to the project as a ReaSamplomatic5000 track.

This is encroaching on Ableton in a serious way.

I don't speak about dropping a sample between 2 tracks but between two TCP.

Or dropping a sample on a TCP.

And Yes, it would be more nice if we could choose the sampler!

Yes this would be nice. What also would be very nice if in the mixer it was possible to hover between 2 inserts and have a line light up and when it is clicked the fx browser opens and the selected fx is added between those 2. Somehwat like this:

Nice one!! There's a small bug on Linux. The same item is also imported to a new track in the arrange view. Only seems to happen when the RS5K is docked to the main window.

As far it is coherent it's ok .. drag/drop to project refers to audio, drag/drop to TCP creates sampler instance .. sounds cool

Media Explorer: Insert Into Sample Player On New Track:

1. Currently adds at bottom of project
Better/preference: adds after Last-Touched Track

2. Currently adds itself with default Audio inputs rather than default Instrument (MIDI) inputs
Better/preference: defaults to same inputs as adding a new VSTi

3. New RS5k track is not record-armed or Record-Monitor Active
Better/preference: New track is by default Record-Armed and Active.

The general idea: we're going through samples and once zeroing in we want to start playing them immediately in the RS5k instance. All steps saved between choosing the sample and using it, are preferable.

Would very strongly suggest the currently-selected sample in Media Explorer be MIDI-playable directly in the Media Explorer.

ie, it's "in the background" throwing the sample into a hidden RS5k built into Media Explorer, and it's listening for MIDI input if the Media Explorer is focused. ADSR would be simple 0,0,100,10 for preview (ie, no one-shot, full-volume while keypress is down, non-clicky release)

Benefit: instantly audition samples as an instrument

I don't think it's possible. External samplers must first handle additional parameters to create instruments from the script level.
I was looking for such information about Kontakt sampler, but I couldn't find anything.

I think the best thing to do is to integrate the Reaper as much as possible with its own tools.

If external samplers allows to create instruments it should be created by users and their scripts.

Could we have an indicator in the MCP (and now also in the TCP), when an FX window is open? Like a change in color of the button.
We have it for "bypass" and "offline", but not for "float fx configuration".
Thanks for considering!

Example:
+1, Please!

Where is this option?

I can only see "Mixer: Toggle show FX parameters if space available". If this is that, then this is not the solution. The solution is: don't remove existing workflows. I still don't see a way to return track FX parameters to a separate section in the mixer. Please return this, I am absolutely repulsed by this decision.

I don't think there is a protocol (but I am not into it), but if there was would be really nice if we could choose the sampler.

That would be very useful. I thought I was the only one clicking on FX buttons to see if they were open or not.
