I'm starting a series of brief insight to the inspiration and logic behind each song on Projektorn 1 album.
This is to give more information to the ones interested and to document it while I still remember something about how it went.
AlgeRNon - what does it mean ?
This composition is awesome, one of the best music I listened to this year,
drummin (all other instruments, too) is great - I like the breaks you have, sometimes no drums at all, great arrangement. Will listen to all tracks.
This track really blew me away - genius!
N ow I ve listened to KaarLeek, also awesome...
Synths great, I love your drumming a lot,
where are your drums coming from?
I am very surprised, never thought one could make so creative work with toontrack products. Great job.
Can not hear any room sound, what I like, did you mute room and oh? Or used de-reverb?
Very cool. I like your drums on this. I'm jealous that you have a Chapman Stick. I saw one of the first ones to hit the stores at Elderly Instruments in Lansing Mi. when I was on tour in the 70s.

Superior sounds great. You can add as much room sound as you want or none at all to the close mics which are as dry as you can get.
I use quite a bit of the room mics, maybe it just blends with the rest of the instruments, so it isn't as noticeable in the full mix.

No need to be jealous, just get one
When I bought it, I spent a while looking for a second hand Stick that's in Europe, to avoid the expensive shipping from the USA and VAT+other taxes.
I was messing around with SD3 for about 4 days
Always too much room in every single instrument. Well, I thought it was a stupid decision to record the drum kits in in a pretty large hall. Then I thought, maybe I had a reverb inserted in some track, but no, always too much room and I hate that on drums and the kicks had kinda cheap plastic sound.
But when I listen to your drums, they sound just great.
Maybe you're compressing them too hard and that way getting some sustain or quiet room sound too loud?
Other than that I have no idea what might be happening there.
I know a lot of people like SD3 and I generally do not use a lot compression,
sometimes REaComp on 3 or 4 tracks only to cut some peaks. I think, SD3 is just not made for me, but that is not really a problem, there are many other drum plugins. And one comp in master to have a -2dB gain reduction.
I only got some acceptable results, when adding Plugin alliance´s de-reverb or a tranient designer to get rid of room sound, but these two plugins also have some dis-advantages as for the sound.
Big thumbs up on these tracks. Chapman Stick is such a cool instrument - I've seen Blue Man Group putting them to great use in Boston and in their Florida show. And of course, Tony Levin.
But I like the music overall, too. Kind in the same vein as my own synth-oriented projects. Great rhythms, simple melodies, proggy, but not overly complex, just interesting enough but you can still tap your foot to it.
Dark, tense and moody, interesting and progressive - it all moves me in some way. Really nice sounds and tones all around that add to the dark atmosphere. You are very good at expressing feelings with only music.
Raak is my favourite track. It gets under my skin.
Really well done all around. I enjoyed the listen very much.
Have been listening to this the past few days. Really good work! Very interesting sounds and rhythms - something to like in all the tracks. I look forward to more.

Thanks for the kind words kindafishy! I was a bit worried that my music would come forward as too mechanical, so this is bit of a relief.
