you don't trust me?
Stash doesn't update the file name and it won't let me edit it either.
check the upload date.
download the file, unzip it twice and you'll see it's v2.5
I feel like we've had this conversation before....

Is the listed "v2" actually v2.4b"?
(if so, you may want to consider updating the name of the downloadable file.)

Updated the notes for v2.5 in the first post and in the announcement post on page 5 of this thread.
here the highlights for quick reference.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Solaris_LCS Ver. 2.5 - *NEW - v2.5 uploaded on 3/20/2019
v2.5 is mostly an overhaul of the TCP, but includes similar button updates to all layouts based on the THIN layout.
There are new layouts as well:
- Long Name - layout for the TCP
- A Strip - Strip layout for the MCP named 'A Strip' due to what appears to be menu limitations.
New additional Transport layouts :
- Blue Default - Same layout as the default in the LCS_Blue theme.
- Centered Controls - controls are more centered.
- R4 Default - as close as possible to the Reaper 4 default.
Other notable changes:
- adjusted the Midi Editor out-of-bounds area to be darker.
- added the norec images for monitoring with record disabled. Note: this feature is only available in Reaper v5.72 and after.
- Expanded the Recmode & Recmon button areas to include their half of the frame around the Recarm button to make it easier to click on instead of right clicking the Recarm button.
- changed track label text to turn blue/turquiose when track is a parent or an end folder. I just wanted it to happen with a parent folder, but the command doesn't appear to have that ability.
- changed the Transport Play, Pause and Record buttons to look like the whole button lit.
- added small button modes to the TCP IO and TCP Input FX buttons to make them also available in the smaller height or compact track size.
.

So nice.
Especially not really for the length, to me, but to differentiate like, "sub" tracks from the other. Much nicer.
The resizing job you've done is just amazing. Any button's always available at any height.

Please help
For some reason I can't get the folder to link to the theme file. I have attached a pic. I have tried putting the theme file in the folder as well and no change. The theme loads without the custom images.
Thanks

In the Theme development/tweaker at the bottom you'll see 'Image resource path:'
(Actions > Show action list... > Filter: > (type) theme > select: Theme Development: Show theme tweak/configuration window)
- Click browse or type in the path to the image file
- Then click 'Reload images' to make sure it loads (bottom left)
- Then click 'Save Theme' (top right)

No problem! It’s one of the many things in REAPER that you don’t need to know until you do B) It’s easy once you figure it out...

I'm a bit confused......
There are lots of posts here in this thread.....
Maybe I have to further customize something, but, ultimately, I want my screens with this theme to look exactly like the pictures in the first post.
I have tried each of the Mixer theme settings and none of them give the desired result.
Can someone offer instructions or point me to the post number in this thread that has the instructions how to do this?

I see you got this sorted out with +NRG's help (Thanks for the assist, +NRG).
I'm curious to know why this happened, though.
can you make file name extensions visible and check what full theme name is?
Also, did you follow the below instructions exactly?
Using Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 as an example:
- download the file
- unzip it to temp folder
- unzip it again, you now have 1 folder and 1 file:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 [folder]
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme [file with -no- 'zip at the end]
copy these two items into your ColorThemes folder

Please provide a screenshot of what you are seeing.
Also note the following:
- The first 2 screenshots at the beginning of the thread are using the default layouts with the mixer docked* to the left.
* see Kenny's video on using the docker:
- The mixer fader changes to a knob when the layout is below a certain height allowing all controls to be available at the lower height.
- The theme can be used at lower resolutions, but the recommended resolution is: 1920x1080
using lower resolutions means the mixer height is automatically shorter.
If the resolution is too low you will never see the faders, just the knobs.
.

Here is a screen shot of what I am looking at and the choices for the Mixer panel. Pretty much all the choices the tracks are grey. I was expecting to see something like SMALL FULL METER (OR SOMETHING CLOSE TO THAT...):
Please keep in mind that I don't mess with themes very often. I just so happened to see this one, thought it was cool, and decided to try it out. But, knowing exactly what to do and where files get put is not really my expertise and would be very grateful for some help with this.

This theme requires manual installation, so it may be beyond what you want to spend time on.
I suggest trying the LCS_Blue theme instead.
That theme can be installed easily, just drag and drop the downloaded theme file onto Reaper.
If you really want the Solaris_LCS theme, then keep reading:
From your screenshot, it looks like the theme does not see the image folder.
See southpaw's attached screenshot in post #209 above for the likely location of your Reaper ColorTheme folder.
You'll need to know this in order to fix the installation or to manually re-install the theme.
First try following the instructions +NRG posted above in post #211
If +NRG's method doesn't fix it, try the following instructions.
Using Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 as an example:
- download the file
- unzip it to temporary folder
- unzip it again a 2nd time. You should now have 1 folder and 1 file:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 [folder]
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme [file with -no- 'zip at the end]*
copy these two items into your Reaper\ColorThemes folder
* Note: if you have file extensions hidden (and you probably do), you won't see the ReaperTheme at the end of the file name.

Rrrrggg!
I wish there was a simpler way to do this! A newbie has no chance at knowing what to do half the time with stuff like this.... especially trying to do it manually and knowing exactly where to put which files to have it be right.
Maybe it's just me, but, just frustrated !!!!!
Please see the three pictures below ... I am NOT getting anything close to the pictures of the theme as demonstrated,
OK....... Here is the unzipped folder for the BLUE version of this theme. What am I missing?
This location it is in is just a folder I created to store all my themes that I download.
Once again, I am not experienced at just knowing where to put stuff when it comes to themes so I am just so incredibly frustrated that this is not simpler or that Reaper provides a Theme installer that would just do it for people. That would be an awesome feature for Reaper to develop wouldn't it?
Here is what my Reaper Color Themes folder looks like:
Right now, here is what ?I get, just like the grey one!!!!!

looks like you're half way there.
now just copy the image folder named Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 that is shown at the top of the list in your first screenshot to the ColorThemes location shown in your second screenshot.
The ColorThemes location will then list the following:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 (this will have a folder icon)
Default_4.0.ReaperThemeZip (this will have a file icon)
Default_5.0.ReaperThemeZip (this will have a file icon)
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme (this will have a folder icon)

Most themes come in a self-contained single file format and you just open Reaper in a non-fullscreen window, then just drag and drop the theme on that window.
A few themes (like this one) require manual installation or some extra effort.

I must still be missing somehing because I did a search under THIS PC
for this file: Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperThemeZip (this will have a folder icon) and I am not finding it.
I even did a search as *reaperthemezip to catch all of them that I have.
I'm wondering if there is some other ZIP file that it is in that I have not yet unzipped?
Where can I find this file?

Hi sjs.
You already have it.
As Lucas said...
On the first image you provide. You have 4 files.
The first is named Solaris LCS Blue_v2.5 (Type : File Folder)
Pick it and drag to your Reaper Color Theme Folder.
It might be it.
Bye

My apologies, there was a typo.
This illustrates the dangers of copy & paste.
The theme name has no ' ZIP' at the end:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme (this will have a file icon)
As I said earlier, it looks like you're half way there since the Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme file appears to already be in your ColorTheme folder.
You just needed to also copy the folder named Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 (this has a folder icon) to your ColorTheme folder.
In the first screenshot of your earlier post it shows your unzipped theme file and folder are located here:
Code:
DATA Disk (D:) > DATA > 1-REAPER files > 1000-Reaper Project Themes > Solaris LCS 2.5 Blue
They are named as follows:
Code:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 4/22/2019 7:39 PM File Folder
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme 4/22/2019 7:39 PM Reaper Theme
They are two at the top of the list in that screenshot.
Copy and paste them both into your ColorTheme folder shown in your second screenshot as being located here:
Code:
This PC > System Disk (D:) > Program Files > Reaper (x64) > installData > ColorThemes
Let them replace any file or folder of the same name.
The ColorTheme folder should now list the following:
Code:
Default_4.0.ReaperThemeZip 4/6/2019 8:19 PM Reaper Theme
Default_5.0.ReaperThemeZip 4/22/2019 8:19 PM Reaper Theme
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5 4/22/2019 7:39 PM File Folder
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.5.ReaperTheme 4/22/2019 7:39 PM Reaper Theme
.

Lucas, 2.5 is great!! So much clearer. Nice refinements, and a good compromise between super bright flares and the v2 colors, which where a little flat. Everything looks great now!

Love it how it is in 2.5. What I did to make it brighter in Imperial was change it to HSB, increase the B value, and layer the flares so they were twice as bright. But I prefer what you've done in v2.5.

are you working on a copy of the theme with a different name?
open the theme tweaker and check the resource path at the bottom.
change to the correct path and save the theme if needed.
not sure what the issue is otherwise, unless you're forgetting to save the the RTCONFIG file before reloading the theme.
I do that a lot.
|
No. I was changing/saving the right file. What I had to do was a search for every single instance and just change all parameters on every instance. Not sure which one did it, but it finally worked! While lower contrast may spare you eye strain on a decent sized monitor, on a 13" monitor, it was impossible to read them. The contrast helps a LOT. Changing the track panel text in the Theme tweaker only changed the dB value text, but the shotgun approach worked, and the theme is usable for me now except that it did not change the track number color. Searching the rtconfig file did not turn up a string for "number" other than in a comment. Do you know where the track number color value is set?

No. I was already using that rtconfig file when I had the issue. Weird. So far, 2.5 is all joy, so it's moot.

This setting will also affect those colors.

Oddly, I had not changed this in the theme tweaker, so I"m not sure why it was different. If I would have, I'd have made it darker. But, thanks for steering me toward the solution. I was able to change it in the theme tweaker to something more like what I see in the screen shots.

I'd tried that. I was unable to find anything that had to do with solo vs. normal view. It seems to be perfect in v 2.5 anyway, so thank you again! I love black background with ultra bright waveforms. A little tweaking to the media item colors, and I have just what I want. Pure black when selected, and slightly lighter alternating between 6 and 12% on unselected. Loving it!
However, I can't seem to find how to change the background color of the transport window! (Not the TCP—I can change the background there. I mean the main transport window. I know I've done it before, but I've looked all through the theme tweaker and rtconfig file and I just can't seem to remember the right name to change it. It's been a long time since I've had time to work with the look of the file. I got some UAD gear in the middle of some tremendous plugin specials, so I ended up with almost everything I'd hoped to get in the next year all at once! It's been a little overwhelming getting to know all the different versions of the classic preamps, channel strips, compressors, limiters, and EQs that come with the UAD-2 bundles, but what a great problem to have! I got several thousand dollars worth of plugins that I wanted for $50 after coupon codes and special offers. Anyway, a memory jog on how to change this would be great.

Thanks. Now that we have confirmation from Jon at the REAPER Blog that my suspicion about WT's silence regarding Imperial v5 meant Cockos has him working on the official interface for REAPER 6, I have a feeling a lot of us are going to be using the v6 default with a few mods for color here and there. This is exciting news! Imperial 5 has something for just about everyone based on the posts from 2016. I can't wait to see what we end up with and what kinds of mods talented themers like yourself will do with it. It's stunningly gorgeous!!!!!

Liking your TCP arm lamp design.
The TCP rec input switch and it's colored indicator is a neat graphic.
Transport -(colonial/imperial origins?)this custom version is very pleasing to the eye.

It's a file in the image folder:
transport_bg.png
you have to alter that file

Thanks, but it's the FX switch from Albert's Solaris Pro that I altered to use as the Recmode switch.
It's since been altered further to be used in an upcoming rebuild of the LCS_Gold theme

No I did not!
As I think I mentioned before, while I totally respect the skills of the author in creating your theme and I'm sure it is really cool looking once installed, BUT, from a perspective of someone who does not make a habit of trying out new themes very often and I am not real familiar with how to do this kind of thing manually, meaning knowing what to put where to make it work, I am just not going to struggle so hard to get it to work!
This all boils down to my inexperience of this aspect of setting things up manually and is no reflection on the theme.
Now, I'm sure that there are lots of you out there who will say, "Yea, but it's so easy, just do XYZ and your fine!"....
Let me be very clear that in no way shape or form am I being critical of the author of the theme or of the theme itself.
So, lucas..... if it is important enough to you to seriously consider, may I suggest that because your theme requires a few extra steps than most, that you consider if there is any way to create an installer that a total newbie could simply hit 'INSTALL' and the installer takes care of putting everything where it is supposed to go!
What I was able to do is I found the Appllo4_b1 theme that I am liking and so far is serving my needs.

QUESTION about MASTER track
Now that I have this installed, I got a question about the MASTER track....
Is there a way to make the METER BIGGER? If so, how?

Did you miss my opening statement in post #218 above?

This theme requires manual installation, so it may be beyond what you want to spend time on.

Since several members in addition to myself tried to help you, I'm curious to know what prom told you to help you that we left out.
Regarding the theme delivery format
I realize it is difficult for some to get the theme installed due to this format, but it is required for all parts of the theme to work.

Hi lucas,
I did not post this here because although what I outlined in message seemed a simple process to me, I had no idea whether or not it really would clarify procedure for installing Solaris in this particular case.
--------------------------
This is message I sent....
*1st remove any files/folders from Reaper ColorThemes folder that are named Solaris because we don't want duplicates.
Windows 10/File Unzip -
01. Right click on .zip file that you want to unzip (uncompress), and click on "Extract All" in context menu.
02.(In this particular case i.e. for Solaris, you will now discover/be shown another zipped file) Repeat exact same method for this zipped file as in step 01.
03.You should now see a T-shirt icon (theme file) and also a folder containing all necessary image files.
04. Drag and drop (or cut and paste) both of these into Reaper ColorThemes folder.
I normally use 7 Zip for uncompressing etc. available free and in 64/32bit versions however it's context menu has more options and might be overkill for theme file unpacking.
---------------message ends---------------------

Thanks for assisting, prom.
I suspect this is the step we left out:

A Suggestion ........
Hey, there:
Well, I finally got this installed and have been working with it and have a suggestion. Please see picture of my layout and comments BELOW the picture......
Thanks to Tod who helped provide this track layout I have a suggestion.
I am a singer and I download pre-recorded music. This is the song 'Evergreen' by Barbra Streisand.
As you will see, Track 11 is my MASTER track within my project that then gets sent to project MASTER track.
What would be cool is for you to have a track layout that in every way looks just like the TRACKING layout, but, is extra wide and is called MASTER. I say extra wide so that it stands out from all the other layouts.
That's all that I wanted to suggest.....

Thanks.
I suggest instead that you use the Tracking - Spacer on the MASTER channel/track and also on the one to the right of it.
This will create a separation between that Master and the other layouts
