Man that looks like a lot of work...I tried it and gave up...
Here is what I did. I downloaded 4front bass
Open virtual instrument and opened 4 front bass, enable midi and I see the piano keys with a pen that I can use but the grid is all white no boxes.no markers I can't fill in the exact box that matches the note or time of that and worse is the pen is so sensitive...help...

Ok I found out a way but I am stuck. Let's say I want to use 4front bass. Now I download tux guitar and I tab out the bass lines..how do I get those bass lines from tux guitar into reaper and on the virtual track with 4 front bass? How do I get the tab in tux guitar to display midi notes?

notes = midi.

you export your tux-tabs as midi-file, put it on the track with the bass-VSTi and there you have it playing your bassline.
