Request: load/save render queues
*** Edit: clarification below marked with * ...
Long time registered Reaper lover, here, with a suggestion for enhancement.
When I'm doing final mastering on a *album*, it is common for me to want to re-render the entire *album*, start to finish. Unfortunately today I have to add all the *projects* to the render queue each time I want to do this, which is a hassle for *albums* with lots of tracks.
I know there is a command line option to render, which works well enough I guess, but it would be much more elegant if the render queue simply had the ability to save and load the contents of the render queue to/from a file.
Or, if that is too much work, simply don't clear things out of the render queue when they are rendered. That way it will at least remember the most recent queue between runs.
Thoughts?

Hmmm...
Just for my understanding, you want to be able to remember, which projects to add to the render-queue so you can add them again with a single click/shortcut?

I don't know that it has to be a single click, but yes I would like to be able to recall an entire render queue that I previously created in a different session, so I can render it all again.
And it would be really nice if I could have more than one of them, so I can have more than one album in flight at a time, but that is frosting on the cake.

I think, something like that could be scriptable.
An idea I have at the spot:
You add to a project once a "add me automatically to the render-queue, when I'm opened."-state(which is possible with ReaScript) and another script, that checks all opened projects, whether this tag is set in them.
If yes, it adds them to the render-queue automatically, if no, it leaves it be.
This isn't exactly what you want but would be one step toward that.
And I'm pretty sure, someone else could make it cooler, maybe even adding projects, who aren't opened yet to the render-queue, but this is quite difficult, as Reaper natively only supports adding opened projects to the render-queue.
If my idea would help you, drop me a note here, and I'll write these scripts for you.
Should be easy, I think.

Thanks - these are good ideas. I hadn't considered using Reaper's own scripting for this.
Another idea is to load all the files into one uber Project and render the pieces as separate regions to separate files. Which would also work but is a bit odd.
I do believe, though, that Cockos should think about this sort of a feature. Musicians and producers nearly always work on multi-track projects and having the ability to remember the projects in between renders would be highly useful.
Thanks again!
