Default Video screen often opens by default

For some reason, ever since I docked it, or maybe ever since I made some screen sets with the video screen, reaper likes to open by default with the video window open.

Any ideas as to why this is happening, and how to change it? I almost never do video, but I do have a screenset for video on the rare occasion I do use it.

Last time I opened it the media explorer opened as well.

My video screen set has the media explorer docked and open, and also another toolbar, but it opened undocked, the video screen docked where it is docked in screenset, and the toolbar was not open.

I always save my projects with the screen the way I want, so I don't really get it.

it happens to me sometimes.
Try loading the screenset, make sure video is closed and resave the screenset again.

I'll give that a shot. To be clear though, the screenset works as advertised, it's just that for some reason, when reaper loads a track, it opens some elements that I usually have closed, and that are closed for the project I saved.

Opening the right screenset fixes it, but it's kind of annoying to have the video window open every time, when I basically never use it.

I think I have discovered what the issue is. I don't know if Justin can easily fix this, or maybe I should post it into the bugs forum or something, but I believe I know why I am having this problem.

Reaper, I believe by default remembers whatever state your video window or media explorer is in, whether it is open or not. When you close the or open one of these, reaper will remember that.

It would appear that switching screensets that open these, trigger some sort of open state, or tell reaper they've been opened, but switching to a screenset where they *don't* appear, doesn't trigger a "close" state, and so reaper believes that they are open when you close it, and it remembers that.

Saving the screensets doesn't appear to help. However, if you close the video window manually, or the media explorer manually, it won't open next time.

If you just switch to a screenset that has no media explorer or video window, no close command gets sent, or their open state or however it works, stays as though they are open.

Pretty sure that's what's happening.

known bug. Has come up a few times.

What I think happens is that opening or closing a window manually writes it into the ini but manually opening a window, then closing it via screenset/windowset change doesn't change the open/close state in the config file.

Workaround is to use SWS startup action, set it to load screenset 1.

Thanks. That's good to know, and I'm glad there is a workaround, but what does this mean exactly?

Thanks. I found the command ID for the screenset I was using, and entered it there, but I got a disclaimer that told me to remember to save that project.

So, it looks like this startup action is only applied to this project? I did choose "global startup action" I did it from the action list. My menus aren't like yours.
