-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For anyone who unfamiliar with the Imperial theme, it requires at least one monitor capable of 1920x1080 resolution and Reaper needs to be run in full screen mode.
In Preferences, go to 'Appearance', then 'Track Control Panels' and set the 'Volume/Pan' fader range to +10 db. leave Shape at default.
Right click on the Master channel and uncheck 'Show Multiple Rows'. I also suggest unchecking 'Show FX Parameters When space allows' if you don't use them. The FX Parameters work, but they're bit twitchy to pull up and a little difficult to use on the Slim layout. They work fine on the other layouts. It's possible to leave the setting on and just not pull them into view on the Slim layout.

If you dock the mixer, it must be located on the left or right sides.
This allows for an Inspector setup, but the Slim layout will always show the channel next to it in the Inspector mode.
To avoid that issue, I created a copy of the theme without the slim layouts, then quickly switch between Mixer layouts using a hotkey to change themes. You will need to edit the RTF file to remove the Slim layout and the main theme file for to point it to the correct folder. It's functional without doing this, but it makes it easier or clearer to use the Inspector mode with the default and the slim layout only used for a full mixer view.

MCP Layouts:
- Default........... 3/4's the size of the White Tie default layout.
- Black........... black version of the 3/4 size default layout.
- Red Fader....... black layout with a red fader.
- Yellow Fader.... black layout with a yellow fader.
- Slim.............. strip size layout packed with as many functions as possible.
- Extended.......... full size layout with a large FX/Send list section.
- Master Default.... I left this in because it shares the meter with the default layout and I could not get around that issue. any ideas?
- Big Meter......... same size as default, but with a big meter. (thank you, Snap)
- Master of the Universe......... a request from ReaperMadness
- Tracking.......... White Tie's tracking layout. I left it in bceause I may want to use it in the future.
- Blank............. useful as a section divider

Starting with White Tie's Imperial, I then took the Transport, the master channel Big Meter Slim backgrounds and the FX/Send list mods from Snap's Imperial Mod and then added the track label from the Imperial 24 mod (which they had taken from another theme, it turns out). Version 2 includes the track folder indents from lodsb's folder mod.
Please note that the 'REC' and 'SRC' LEDs by the faders on the Extended layout are clickable.
The Input FX LED on the 3/4 size default layout is also clickable and the Insert and Bypass LEDs on the 'Slim' layout are clickable as well.
The MCP bus folder LEDs are clickable. Note that if the folder LED is on a strip or 'Slim' laout, you need to click on the right side of the LED or the 'US' part of the word BUS.

Had to switch back and forth between this and WT_Imperial to see all the changes you've made, but it looks good! Lots of improvements. Imperial's midi editor needs some serious love though, maybe you'll take a look at that next?

Excellent.

Is there any way we could get the "Master of the Universe" back as an option in the Master Mixer Panel?

Nice work. I DO love those track labels.

Nice stuff. I like option of having the record arm option and track FX available at the same time with this theme.

Thanks!
Appreciate the tip on the Midi Editor. I had never looked at it in the Imperial theme until you said that.
It totally didn't work for me and I definitely needed to change it.
I'm pretty happy with the results.
I added a screenshot of it to the list.

Yeah, I wanted them as soon I saw them on the Imperial 24 mod.
Ogibear snagged them from another theme as well.

possibly. I may do an add-on since I don't use that layout anymore.
I love it, but it takes up too much space and and my needs are satisfied with the current Big Meter layouts.
Unfortunately, I can't really work on it again until next week sometime.

My original goal was to have at least one layout I could use for everything if I wanted to.

I made no changes to the TCP layouts.
So, as of now, there is no way to collapse folders in the MCP? This can only be done in the TCP?

Also... What's the chance of getting a "lit-up" Master Mixer Panel label background, to match all the other ones? It looks kind of flat next to all those cool lit labels. Just a thought.

Yes.
That's the way it works in the original version of Imperial as far I can tell. The LEDs on the fader channel look like buttons, but are not clickable. Their only purpose is to show at a glance what the folder status is for the track. There is no other folder related 'thingie' (for lack of a better word) on the MCP in the original Imperial.

I tried it. It didn't look right to me. The black label actually looks better to me.

That is not correct.

There are a lot of Imperial mods out there that seem to be based on each other, leading back to the very initial release of the theme, rather than on my more recent much enhanced and bugfixed versions, and some of them are also to some degree broken.

I suspect a quick way to tell if a mod is based on the initial release is whether it is missing the 'none more black' MCP layout.

The folder button certainly DOES function on my older version of WT_Imperial.

Where do we find these fixed versions of the originals?

I searched the stash with 'imperial' and all I see are mods ...

lucas -

If there were even small folder buttons on the mixer strips this would be nearly perfect ...

As I told you over at Zoom, this is a very sweet set of mods to WT's very sweet theme.

Please provide the best WT Imperial PC Theme Link available !! I just checked what I thought was your latest/best version I use everyday, and it has 'none more black' as a Layout selection. { Dual 24" 1920 x 1200 Monitors }

I believe Mr. Tie is saying that his INITIAL, pre-bug-fix release did NOT contain the None-More-Black option, but that he later added it. Meaning that an Imperial mod that does NOT contain the 'Black' layout is based on his earliest, pre-debugged, pre-'enhanced' release.

And further, I take that to mean that one of his later enhancements was to add the ability to collapse folders in the MCP.....(maybe).

Nice work.

Just did a quick test of this and didn't change any settings so forgive me if this has been covered.

When docking the mixer to the side it takes up about 30% of the screen width and can't be made smaller. This means a bunch of empty wasted space if you don't have the tracks to fill it. Since the theme needs the whole vertical screen space we need to at least be able to reduce the width for it to be usable on single monitor (if you want to see anything else with the mixer that is).

Also, it would be great to have a layout that uses the center of the fader as a mini VU meter (rather than to indicate track selection). This would allow the vertical space requirements to be reduced, or give a bit more room for other controls.

Hi, thank you for the Imperial theme!
I downloaded the Imperial theme from the House of White Tie website.
It is dated June 3rd, 2015
It has the 'None more Black' layout in it.

I just checked the original Imperial theme and the yellow 'last folder' LED is the only one that lights up on the MCP for me.
All folder LEDs work fine on the TCP.

Again, I don't use folders, so this wasn't an issue for me.
If I have time next week I'll take a look at why it isn't working before possibly implementing a folder button in my mod similar to the single button on the Tracking Deck, but it may be a while before I can work on it again.

I am able to slide the track view over and condense the Mixer space to a single Mixer channnel and the Master (see my photo for Inspector mode). Additionally, I can float the Master channel and then close it to leave only the single mixer channel and then slide the track view over to it, maximizing the space for editing the WAV files.
I don't see how you're losing 30%. Can you post a photo?

that doesn't really fit the theme, design-wise, but may be an option on the Slim or Strip layouts. I'll look into it later, when I have some time.

Nevermind. It worked on the right side, but didn't on the left, and turned out to be the arrangement view that needing to be resized. I just needed to adjust it so the divider was visible.

And yeah, I definitely get the philosophy behind Imperial, but I think integrating a VU in the fader area would be a very useful layout. If it was also done for the tracking layout, the top VU could be eliminated and it would be a great short layout and allow room for the ME or FX browser in a docker on top (I typically have the arrangement in the left, mixer bottom right, and the browsers docked top right with my current theme). Thanks for considering it.

P.S. Always loved the look of Imperial but never thought it usable for me as a primary theme, going to give it a serious chance now though.

I changed all the colors to match the theme I've been using for years and I'm really liking it (still need to find the ideal screenset though).

Unfortunately one big thing I didn't notice until opening an existing project is the lack of indenting for folder tracks. I use folders heavily for organization and bussing, and with projects that usually run over 100 tracks it's too hard to tell what's going on without the indents.

I found an Imperial mod with indented folders, so hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to add it to this mod too when there's time.

Thanks, and yes, that was exactly why they didn't work.

Done
I found a compromise I think works well.
It works well enough for me, anyway. YMMV

I just added lodsb's folder mod to version 2 of my mod. see changelog in the first post of this thread.

I agree it could be useful, but it breaks the theme aesthetic, unfortunately.
I took a brief look at it, but it will take more time than I have right now.
The process is fairly simple, just time consuming.
I may play with it in the future just for fun to see what can be done, but I can't promise anything.
It would be an add-on, though and not part of the official mod.

Wow, that was fast! Thank you. The folder mod is working great and is a major improvement in my opinion.

And no big deal on the integrated VU thing, if you get time to play around in the future, and it works out, that's great.

Thanks, but I was already working on it.
I decided to include it while fixing the MCP folder collapse issue.
If I ever use folders in the future I will want it.
plus, it just looks cool.

Fixed.
Thanks, BobF.
I didn't even know about those options until last week.

played with it some more.
The layout can be used with this mod, but if you want to dock it on the bottom and pull it down at all, it will have to be it's own theme. The MCP in the Imperial theme is locked to certain height out of necessity.
I can include all of the TCP stuff, but the MCP for the VU mod will only have one or 2 layouts at the most, the Slim Big Meter Master and nothing else.

First of all, Lucas, thank you very much for all the work you've been putting into all of these changes in order to accomodate everyone - very much appreciated.

Of course, having said that, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I've noticed a minor graphical glitch (it's always something, isn't it?).

As I hope you can discern from the pic, the TCP track names overlap the TCP track numbers by about one space.

(Annnnnnd...... I just noticed I've spelled "overlapping" incorrectly.)

As I said, very minor and inconsequential, but I thought you might like to know - isn't going to change anyone's life, either way.

Thanks again for the MCP Master label and the collapsing MCP folders.

This is what I ended up with:
Short layout
Shorter and darker

Stash won't let me upload the new version of the theme. I thinks it's too large now with the new layouts.
I'll take them out and put them in their own theme when I have time in the next week or so.
BTW, have you ever looked the Dead Ringer Theme?

That's just funny.

It's been fixed, along with some other bugs I found, but I am unable to upload the new version. I'm guessing the theme is too large now with the new track layouts I added (see my message to PitchSlap). It'll have to wait until I can take the new layouts out and put them in their own theme.

Lucas - looking at the new layouts ... this is getting nicer and nicer.

I hope I'm not coming across all mushy, but THANK YOU! You've made some awesome mods/tweaks without losing the beauty of White Tie's original work.
