Default help with deleting clips

I'm trying to delete all MIDI clips on a single track. There are too many to select one at a time. I have watched several videos on editing and I'm still having difficulty grasping the various selection modes apparently.

The first method I tried was double-clicking on an empty area of the track panel. This highlights all of the clips on the track as expected. No other clips on any other tracks are highlighted. However no matter what key combination I seem to use it deletes everything across all tracks.

I've tried using control X, menu actions, etc. I also tried using the Lasso tool. But I must be missing something. No matter what I do it seems to delete across unselected tracks instead of just the track that is selected and just the clips that are selected. There are no groups and only one track is selected. The only items selected (hilited) are on the track. But all other items on other tracks (not selected and not hilited) are also deleted.

What am I doing wrong?

That's quite odd ..

Do you have a "Delete" key on your computer keyboard ?

If so, try this:
- Open Reaper Action List
- Click the button "find shortcut" (upper right of window)
- hit the Delete key.
- Does it come up with an Action attached to Delete key ?
If so, which Action exactly ?

For what you want, my workflow is:
- left double click on the TCP Header of the Track on which i want all Items to be selected (let's call that Track A)
- Then i hit Delete key which is bound to the Action:
Remove items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus) - no prompting

Outcome:
All the selected Items on the Track A are deleted.

That's exactly the first thing I tried. What software are people using to upload video screenshots here? It would probably help me to record a visual...

I use this method to delete all clips on track 5 for example:
- left mouse double click on the number 5 of track 5
- this selects all clips
- press delete
And Bob's your uncle.

The program used to record your screen movements is called LiceCap. Very small, very easy. Only image, no sound.

Good luck!

This just doesn't work for me... I tried using licecap to make a screen grab but I can't get a file size small enough to upload as attachment.

No matter what kind of delete I try it deletes across multiple tracks and removes time, or nothing at all. It's quite bizarre. Ill try and upload the screen grab somewhere else... is a url to a remote image allowed here?
