Default Horrible Latency

I have just purchased Rreaper 3.75 and love the featuers. However, I do alot of MIDI VSTi recording and I'm having a terrible time trying to overcome the latency. I'm coming from Cubase running a Profire 2626 Firewire ASIO interface. In cubase I get 3 ms of latency @ 64 samples which is completly inaudible. In Reaper I have my soundcard set to 64 samples but the latency is horrible. Am I missing something?

Welcome to the forums and sorry for the trouble! What latency does the device status line in REAPER (on the top right corner of the main window) show? Are you having a latency-introducing plug-in (convo reverb, linear phase EQ, read-ahead dynamics) on the armed track maybe? What is your operating system?

MIDI was mentioned, so I'm thinking... if your problem is latency between clicking a key in the piano roll and hearing the audio, try un-checking Preferences > Buffering > Allow on tracks with open MIDI editor
