I mean I don't like the DMP3, and it's on sale.
Sorry my English dude.... I'm in Mallorca

Art MP is designed for 12AX7 tubes.
I ended up bying an expensive Mesa Boogie 12AX7 as a replacement tube. Difference - minimal (at least with the few quick tests I ran so far)...

No worries man...it's a pity but the order for the DMP3 is gone through already.

Reckon it'll sell easily enough for you though!
Good luck with it.

the trouble with the MP is the opamps and the caps primarily. the tube stage is just an effect that is thrown on at the end of the chain.

i once wanted to mod mine, i stopped at the tube. i didnt want to invest 50 more bucks and 50 of my own hours to fix the engineering shortcuts that ART took in order to maximise their own profit in the first place. its kind of worse than sloppy seconds... its like having sloppy seconds on my own sister or something.

I just picked up one of these. I got the studio version and for 30 bucks it's not bad. Sure there's stuff out there that sounds better, but for a home studio setup where cost is an issue it does the job. If you've got to choose what you're going to spend the big bucks on, grab this little guy and spend the money on the microphone.

My direct guitars using amp sims sound a little more alive. It's a little harsh on highs, especially with hot pickups. But for my cheap setup it's well worth the money.

I can't wait to try it with some bass and vocal tracks.

I know this way too late and over buget but the ART MPA gold is a great preamp for the price. If you are patient you can get one on ebay for less than $200.

man, that mp seems to have people confused on a regular basis. it can sound good with a good tube in it, but a jj or similar probably won't do it any favors. real tube pre or not, i've heard good stuff coming out it.
