MIDI madness

This is driving me absolutely nuts.
I drag in a MIDI file from the Media Explorer for a drum beat. It is on the right notes (kick, snare,hats) that should be triggering Kontakt, but there is no sound.
I get the hits just fine triggering from my Yamaha, Kontakt's keyboard, and Reaper's keyboard.
The thing that really gets me is I can delete the note and then draw one in the same spot, and it will play.

Can I make Reaper ignore embedded channel information?

You could put the included JS Midi_Tool II before Kontakt and select the appropriate output channel.
