Default A More Laptop-Friendly Imperial?

I know the whole point is that Imperial is a theme for peeps with big monitors, but is anyone working on a custom version that would be more usable on a laptop?

Granted, I’m still using it but would love to see a version with a smaller and more re-sizable mixer.

If I knew anything about anything I’d try it myself, but I don’t.

Dead Ringer. Get it by clicking no on the Imperial download site when asked if you have a hi res monitor. It is fine for a laptop.

Or, get a retina MacBook Pro.

But, no.

Mixer has stretching issues.

* just wanted to clarify. The mixer stretches ok. It just could be a bit more compact. It still doesn't work well If you have it docked underneath the transport. YOu can only see 1-2 tracks in the timeline at most.

The master fader, when stretched down, gives twice as much realestate to the logo as it does to the meters/fader.

I could probably figure out how to change a few things so that the mixer could compact a bit more - like the default so intelligently does - by shifting around a few elements... But I find the TCP unusable on smaller screens. Buttons with text underneath are fine on large screens, On a laptop though, you really need a different sort of button.

So, imo, to really make this usable for small screens, a lot of things would need to be changed. And at that point, it stops being Imperial - this is probably why The House of White Tie hasn't really focused on this.

I like the look of Imperial, it's great work. BUt I'm at the point where I've just accepted that it's never going to be usable to me, And instead I am just waiting to see what White Tie's next brilliant release is going to be like. (I do hope there is one, no hurry at all though)

You have some good points.

But, it could be usable, if a bit large, if you're willing to use a full screen mixer as you would with Imperial. It depends on how you work. Yeah, the tcp is unwieldy, but that also depends on how you work. As you said, for it to truly be efficient on a small monitor it probably wouldn't be imperial anymore.

OP should try it on.

im using DR on my 15" laptop and it works great, i love this theme.

I use two monitors, one for the mixer (it's a 21" screen).
If i cant use the second monitor i just switch the mixer on and off with crtl+m, fullscreen and it still works great.
