Normalize Changed At 6.44 (Bug or Feature)
Summary: Simple edit of a single mp3 file. Prior to version 6.44, normalize would raise levels as high as possible without clipping. Sorry for the lame description, but I'm a novice at Reaper and audio editing/production. At any rate, after updating to 6.44, when clicking Normalize, a different window comes up, and when doing the normalize, the result is clipped-beyond-belief audio, that sometimes even causes auto-muting. To reproduce:
- Open Reaper
- Drag an mp3 audio file into Reaper
- Right-click the item, then click Item Properties
- Click Normalize
A different window compared to prior versions pops up, defaulting to LUFS-1. The modified audio is clipped to the point that it's not usable.
I've attached screen shots that show the changed behavior. Hopefully the titles of the images are sufficient to explain what I'm seeing.
