Default Is it possible to change Automation View by reducing Min-Max points value?

Hello, I'm still working towards perfect orchestral template...

I have CC envelope lane that controls articulations for the instrument. I'm using ReaControlMidi for that....

Now the problem is that I have only ~20 articulations... but lane provides range of 127... mostly used articulations are located around 0-6 ... therefore I have a huge range that I don't use... and it's very hard to pin-point that lane

is there a way to shrink that automation lane (set range) in order to view it as 0-20 ?

Not without script I don't think, but you can make the lane as big as your screen if you maximize the window.

I don't think you can change the range of an FX envelope, I've run into the same situation and just thought of a possible workaround,...

1) Create a JSFX with slider in the range you want, (I'm only testing 0 - 20).
2) Add the JSFX to the track and make an envelope for the slider, set the envelope to its max value.

3) Open ReaControlMidi, select the param you want to control and link it to the JSFX slider, adjust the offset and scale as needed.

4) Now use the JSFX slider envelope to adjust the ReaControlMidi param.

"Range" is bad name for slider, should be named "value" or something, my first JSFX.

At that point you could just have the JS send the CC values, and name the plugin and slider in such a way that you can tell what it does by looking at the envelope. In fact, I'm pretty sure there IS a slider-to-CC JS plug out there. Just edit the slider in a copy of that.

nope. commonly requested feature.

even though edgemeal's solution is clever, such hoops aren't nice to jump through in the moment

Hi, have you tested the ReaArticulate (http://reaticulate.com/) ? It wont make what you are locking for but maybe it will be a better solution I like it very much !

Good Luck!

My friends, thank you so much for your replies!

Unfortunately I have to agree with mccrabney, Edgemeal solution is very clever... but I don't think it will be for me... thank you very much for sharing it though!

Yes, I saw his tool, it's amazing, I will investigate it if my current workflow collapse... so far everything is very comfortable ( changing presets/articulations by writing automation)

it's a bit unfortunate that we don't have this function, I was very sure that there was some right-click that I was missing... apparently not =P

Once again, thank you very much for your replies, they are very valuable !

sincerely yours,
inari

Any updates or solutions on this one?

I find it particularly difficult to draw automation of the decay time of Samplomatic. Or can someone advice me another sampler with a smaller decay range?

Thanks!

extremely difficult, which is too bad, because making tiny edits to drum envelopes is a common way to introduce dynamics to sampled oneshots.

the way i've done this is to use MPL's rs5k additional scripts while latch recording -- this lets you increment/decrement by x ms instead of trying to work within a tiny envelope range.

good luck!
