Recording audio from Roland TR8S

I've downloaded a trial version of Reaper 5 and was hoping to record individual tracks using the sounds from the TR8S into Reaper. I've been able to record the mix using the ASIO driver but not the individual tracks by creating a new track in Reaper and assigning input 3 for the bass drum for instance. Has anyone else had success doing this?
