Default Newbie - Another pops and cracks question

Hi all,

Newbie here. Before I get into it, I know how common the subject is, but I have been researching for weeks and have tried everything to no avail. So, apologies up front if this is just “another pops and cracks question” it I have a bunch of new equipment that should be working and does t seem to be.

Basic background:
Running windows 10 pro with reaper
Focusrite 18i20
All ASIO drivers installed and confirmed working in reaper
Same rate and buffer size match in reaper and my interface

I’m trying to record my drums. Everything gets recorded no problem. I get playback, I’m able to adjust everything. So no problems there.

The problem: anytime I playback I get pops and cracks and occasionally I get the playback cutting out live while recording or after recording. This even occurs if drag and drop a song I want to play along to.

This does NOT occur with any other playback on my computer (YouTube, etc).

I have tried all the tips to optimize my PC I can find to no avail.

Any ideas. Getting pretty desperate at this point.

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,
Delissio

Download and run Resplendence.com`s latency checker & see if it throws up any issues, but it sounds to me like you have something fighting Reaper over resources on your computer.

Common causes of this are a nasty Antivirus program, greedy wifi or graphics drivers or things like shared IRQs interfering, which Resplendence will find and let you know about.
