Rats.

I'm too lazy to get up and look at a graphics API book. Even with XOR, can you not change the mask to yield a particular colour?

update... to the play & record icons for the night pack - made them a little bolder and also added a touch more contrast to the fx button & made the media peaks lighter - all very minor changes though... havent had time to update the day pack with this yet.

cheers

btw: Alex - really like the stripe approach for transport and buttons... definitely worth trying a set like that ... excellent and can be made to look real clean with some interesting interlaced effects

Haven't had time to try that yet... I'm pretty satisfied with Akoustic's icons right now, and I've got work to do...

I have a question - how does one change the colour of the play cursor? I can't find it in the Color Theme prefs...
Look for "edit cursor"...

As an aside, I choose bright red to set it off against the desaturated blue; but I never use grid lines so I don't know what anyone else prefers....

please do try to make a set like that if you like to and have the time; you're very good at this and I'm much too clumsy with graphical details and all that

Ah, the "play" cursor. Duhr.

I vote for Akoustic's NIGHT icons... but with my colors <g>.

You know, for the transport ultimately I'd prefer just a plain "fuzzy-"rear-illuminated" "light". Red for the record button, green for play, white for stop. I want the transport buttons to be the most eye catching, for peripheral-vision-mouse aiming reasons...

But I'm a loon.

few updates on the night theme pack... changes to fx, monitoring input, group & ripple edit buttons, etc... havent had time to change the day pack... new night pack probably included in the next daily Reaper update

- Alex... wish i had the time to start the stripes pack... i was hoping you would do that set - creating icons from scratch takes me quite a bit of time, so for the moment i would like to finish these 2 before i get into any more.

cheers

Might give it a try... though I using your icons now instead of those stripes since I simply think you did the best job so far. I voted for the Day, now I vote for the Night!

Default Another one based on the akoustic theme

Cheers,

Akoustic, based on your theme, I've created another one.

http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1158...ed%20Theme.png

Get the .zip file those of you who like it

I mangled/renewed the icons for better visibility, added a 2-color track scheme which is needed for the MIDI editor to be shown in different black & white keys, and changed the colors a little bit to get a lttle more contrast.

Hope you don't mind!
Many thanks for your contributions and to all other folks as well for creating icons and stuff

Regards
Raphael

what would be really helpful is for Reaper's using akoustic night theme to suggest replacements for the icon shapes that confuse their workflow - even posting some of your fav icons would be cool & most helpful

i have experimented with more button'd 3D versions but always end up wanting to use the minimalistic themes as they seem much better for large projects... even the phase button should be replaced by the record arm

..rather set an option for phase change in the track > right click > menu - that space free space can then be used for record arm botton plus the space below the track number is now free to indicate the type of channel such as, audio, midi, bus, aux, instr... etc

I like the record arm button being set apart - so that I don't accidentally hit it. Accidentally hitting the phase or mute button doesn't have the consequences of accidentally hitting the record arm button, and not finding out until you've "oops" recorded an extra track....

I like that area of the TCP, where the phase/solo/mute buttons are. My only quibble off the top of my head about that is that the icons for folders and monitoring don't "illuminate".

valid point... forgot that tracks can be armed after record is running

- agree that the folder icons can have a little more to differentiate between the 2 states... may tweak those over the weekend and start updating that day theme 2.

suggestions always welcome

here's the latest on the night theme...

changed a few icons in an attempt to make the folder groups easier to see and improve the clarity on the mixer channels... trying out a dln inspired routing icon and removed the button from the phase switch when off... didnt like it so bold, especially on the mixer view... couple of minor transparency & colour fixes plus text removed from envelope icon.

- comments & suggestions most welcome
enjoy

the picture gives me a 404.

But if the comments are welcome, i would say that i keep digging a lot your icons
.. but, i kept the first version, with horizontal lines for looping icon, instead of the "fancy 3D" icons. These fancy 3D are nice, too, but i don't think that they fit with the others (too "juicy"), so i woudl see them fit perfectly in another theme with differnet colors and icons
I have customized a bit your theme with my owns, in order to reach more "clarity" in the midi editor.
What i woudl say also is that the "record" icon has a lot of alisasing, compared to the perfectness of the other ones.

Nice job, and thank you.
I would vote for this theme if we had to choose a default skin to Reaper.

thanks for the suggestions sinkmusic... i wanted to try a little more colour on the theme since the first version, in response to some suggestions

- will eventually find middle ground at some point... links should be working now... good to know some of you are using this theme, makes it worth while

Akoustic, on the track panel the subtle icons for sends, envelopes etc. are a bit too dark (grey) in your Night theme when used in various darker color themes. Here at least. Wouldn't the lighter color of the new / open project icons etc. generally suit REAPER's night side better?
Just a suggestion, of course - since I'm able to adjust them myself as well.

- alex... it makes sense, the darker colours wont be as effective as when using the matching colour theme & icons... its quite a balancing act keeping all the components intergrated & why i pretty much kept to the original colours which makes the icon design a little easier.

still need to work the day set as i'm sure that 1 will be more user friendly when it comes to tweaking colours - have to refine the icons and checkout the suggestions before i start on that though.

btw - sinkmusic... updated the rar file with new loop icons, similar to the rest of the transport... not so 3D and more inline with your suggestion.

cheers

Here's an update for anyone still using this theme..

- quite a few subtle changes, especially to project icons and gradients on the transport... if you prefer previous versions, i suggest to mix n match the icons... this latest update is what i will end up using for the moment.

I did try some versions of this theme using a transparent glass 3D look on buttons & track icons but always kept coming back to the simpler icons for workflow. In my opinion the 3D look didnt fit that well with the rest of the UI and as a result, kept the channel strip as clean as possible.

.. not everyones taste i know but at least this provides another unique icon theme for Reaper - Raoul

- what it should look like

Default icepack theme

i finally managed to finish the 3rd variation... the new ICEPACK theme is a light version of the others with a few subtle changes.

Radar & default themes are pretty much the same, other than a few small changes to event colour & fader size.

- here are all 3 updated themes... enjoy

am i dumb ?
When i click on the link, i come on the mihd homepage, and i can't find any link to your file... ?
(btw, it already happened that i get lost in a webpage bloated with advertising and various infos, but here, i didn't find any links...)

THis is what i get, when i click on your link...
Except advert links, do you see the wished link to your files ?

BTW, if it is less than 5megas, stashbox works fine.

It confused the hell out of me too.

Right hand side .. second line of text items down.. download file.

Click it. It will then provide a file name (in red) to click again.

sorry about the upload links as i dont have any webspace available at the moment... dont worry Sink, i was just as confused the 1st time i checked these links

you have to look 4 the "download file" ... then wait 4 it to fetch the link... guess they want you 2 read all the adverts 1st

dont get any pop-ups here - maybe mozilla doing some clever blocking... i will send these to Justin 4 next release

edit: will checkout stashbox
