Default EZ Drummer alternative

I've used EZ Drummer on numerous songs with acceptable (to me!) results. I see other drum samples I'd like to try but I can't use them in EZD. For instance, Reverb is selling drums sampled from the Stax Studio. My question - is there another program like EZ Drummer where I can use purchased drum samples and midi sequences as easily? Cheap or free would be great too.

If you use ReaTrak you can use samples from eg. www.drumdrops.com or other sites
to create your own drums that are fitted automatically to your song track in Reaper.

Or you can buy PG Music RealDrums and use them in Reaper with ReaTrak
here's a list of instruments, drums and session player.
They will show in the browser if you right click open in new tab
or to download right click save target/link as

PGmusicRealTracksList2019.txt

PGmusicRealDrumsList2019.txt

Use ctrl/cmd+mouse wheel to fit to page.

You can also try the free user made ones here
https://www.realband.org/drums.html
they should install in your chosen folder if not use a setup extractor like

InnoEx for Win

You can grab free drum samples of a rock drumkit as well as snare drum samples here:

There's more (but not free) in the sample shop: https://www.drumwerks.com/

I like MT Power Drum Kit, the only complaint I have is with the kick drum.

Does MT allow you to use samples for something like that? If so, where do you set them up?

If you have not tried Jamstix, you can try the free version here:

https://www.rayzoon.com/rayzoon_downloads.html

You can use the kits that come with it but you can also use any other kits you may already own.

Jamstix is a bit difficult to learn, but once you 'get it', then you'll love it!

Poise by One Small Clue

it lets you have several samples on each pad, set to diff velocities and allows for tweaking just about anything you can desire
it comes with quite a few kits and samples and you can endless add your own, mix and match whatever and save as a kit

Surprised no one has mentioned Drum Gizmo.

The drs kit is pretty decent. All kits are pretty lively and raw.

golly gosh.... surprised to learn that... I'd bet it is still around somewhere

after having a look at the drumgizmo freebie, I'd say it is not what the OP wanted but that Poise would be...since it both comes with kits and samples AND that you can load your own samples into any of it's drum pads...

on the other hand, I guess he could do that with any sampler and make his own drum kits.... it's a bit of work but has been done with reaper's own sampler...

EZ Player Pro is worth looking at. It does conversions from/to different drum VSTi formats.

I use it a lot to drive Addictive kits with EZD MIDI and the other way around.

Very handy.

Not affiliated with TT, just happy with the tool.
