Default Toggle Selected Track Volume - or + specified dB

I have some footswitches for my X-Touch and I wanted to use the second footswitch to *toggle* track one's volume by around 4 dB.

The first switch I have an action to start and stop Reaper which works great and the second I can easily create a ton of actions obviously but surely there should be a way to do this: Toggle Selected Track Volume - or + specified dB.

My footswitch is putting out this: MIDI Chan 16 CC 103

Anyone? Pretty please! This has become a scavenger hunt and I am now here

Hi HIO, there are actions for moving the fader for selected tracks up and down and it's easy to create custom actions to adjust them at any dB increments you want.

Since i don't know how your X-Touch communicates with Reaper I'm not sure how to implement it from you footswitch.

If you can provide me with the means of how you will do this, I can supply you with the custom action.

Thanks for chiming in Tod, I really appreciate it. The X-Touch is using the MCU protocol and the footswitch I am using is putting out "MIDI Chan 16 CC 103".

Okay I'm not sure how to link "MIDI Chan 16 CC 103" to an action but these actions will raise and lower the fader level of the selected tracks up and down 1dB.

Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks up
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down

To change volume by 4dB create 2 custom actions.

4dB up:
Move selected track volume up 4dB
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks up
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks up
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks up
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks up

4dB dwon:
Move selected track volume down 4dB
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down
Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down

Do you know how to create custom actions HIO? If not it's something you'll want to learn and I'll give you some instructions tomorrow.

Tod, yes I do know how to do a custom action and here are my findings which are strange.

When I create an action with one instance of Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume of selected tracks down, it goes up by 5 dB exactly, and when I create one instance of an action Xenakios/SWS: Nudge volume up it goes down exactly 5dB and my footswitch is working for either/or.

However, I already used my first footswitch for start/stop of Reaper and was hoping I could toggle the down by 5dB and up 5 dB with the other footswitch.

Any ideas on how to break the command run by toggle so that I can have the same footswitch do both somehow?

Thanks again and your info got me very close to what I am trying to do.

I think I lost Tod

Human beings with feelings, is there anyway to create a custom action so that one can *TOGGLE* so that a selected track decreases and then increases in volume by toggling and hitting the footswitch again.

Ha ha, sorry HIO, I've just been very busy.

I think the problem might be that your foot switch is either on or off (0/1). Also I think the only way to
utilize this the way you want is to have it scripted, unless there is a js FX that can already eo this, but
I don't know what it would be.

Since the switch is either on or off, there's no way for a script to know which direction to take it without
another variable. Even a smart switch would have to know which direction it should go, not to mention when
to change direction.

Check with the folks in the scripting department, if anybody can do it, it would be one of these guys.
