Default Select and find every instance of a sound

I edit podcasts and would like to find a way to insert silence where there is a particular sound. For example, every time there's a pop or a cough or an "um" or "ah", it'd be great to automate the process of locating most of those (I know all of them will be slightly different, but they'll have a similar spectral or other layout that can be searched).

Can Reaper do this?

Thanks!

That’s a very tall order, to which the answer is currently “no”. I don’t think any DAW can do this.

Disclaimer: admittedly not even nearly an expert coder, nor am i music-wise / in sound-design - but could this not be done at least in a more literal way by using some algorithm which plays off the transient dynamic splits items action, but various user-selection-based on frequency range?

Reaper doesn’t currently provide a way to programatically detect the pitch of an item. A better coder than I would have to implement one, and I have a suspicion that pitch discrimination alone would yield frustrating results for the original ask.

I was thinking ~these lines and is what I mean about it being a "literal" interpretation from idea to code

If there was feature to have speech-to-text as the basis for dynamic split, muting all unclear words... hehehe.
