Default Rendering / freezing in the background?

So we can continue to edit/ work etc etc? Reaper could do those tasks while audio is not playing / recording or something. Sorry if this has already been suggested somewhere.

This could be messy because background (rendering) and foreground (editing) would have to share plugins, media, etc. However, if the devs could pull this off it would be a most amazing programming stunt. An alternative is to allow sending a project to background rendering and working on another one. But you could as well run another instance of Reaper.

Tracks that are being frozen can be edit locked until the process is complete.

In case of freezing, all reaper has to do is duplicate everything and render it in the background without disrupting the user.

In case of rendering, it could run it as if it was another instance (but without disturbing the user)

Running two instances of Reaper is great for large render queues, but when each new render is being loaded, the instance of reaper loading the project focuses itself and causes interruptions. In addition, there are problems with sharing midi devices.

Possible benefits of this FR:
session clean up while freezing
editing other tracks / parts
recording other tracks?
for post work, you can work on a different scene or part of the movie

basically, wait less and work more!

Is there anything new about this topic? starting renders in the background while continue working on another project would be such a timesaver!
