Default multi channel item from mono multi tracks

I want to take recorded multitracked basic tracks and reduce them to a few multichannel files. What is the action to take tracks already recorded and making a single multichannel item of them? All of the actions I've tried, the "render to multichannel" options, make a multichannel file of each mono track, not combined to a single one, though there's a 150% chance OE is a factor. No trouble recording files as multichannel, but can't make the combining of existing files happen. What's the secret?

Thanks : )

You render!

There's no action to create surround or stereo files from multiple mono files. Reaper wants you to render for anything that creates a new file like this.

Someone may have some scripts made though.

Otherwise just render from your mix bus (that you likely already have routed to monitor from).

Ah, thanks serr. I thought the actions that rendered would do the trick.

So there isn't a way to make combined channel items from existing tracks for convenience and then explode them later?

The 'trick' is to route the audio tracks to a multichannel bus and render that one (as serr mentioned).

edit:
Maybe there are others ways I'm not aware of...
