Default hitting the record button does something kind of weird with my piano

dear musician's

It might be me but if you hit the record button and you play (in my case piano via midi) I kind of have the feeling that I play less perfect than just playing in REAPER without recording..
Is it much work for a computer to note all the midi data in reaper?
I have the feeling that my playing is more rough than flexible when I record..

Greetings

If you're monitoring through Reaper you'll be hearing the sounds with a bit of latency - probably 5-10ms, maybe more if your buffer is set really high.

hmm thats strange, I can play trough an track in reaper very nicely. It only is when I press the record button. My latency is already at 2-3 so thats only a few 7 ms.

Is there something I can do to get the same experience while recording ?

it is more like its missing some velocities instead of latency
