Default Editing The Default V5 Main Toolbar Icon Background Images?

Hello,

I'm working on finishing up a few themes (I will upload to the stash when complete...).

I'm wondering if it's possible to edit / change the default V5 toolbar icon background images (the main toolbar icon images included in the image folder with V5)? I'm aware that editing the toolbar_blank works for the generic toolbar icons in the data > toolbar icons folder.

I like the V5 default toolbar icons but just want to change the background color... Is it possible to edit the layers and if so how?

Thanks!

You'd need the psd or equivalent files I'd expect. Otherwise you can just separate the foreground images from the background by hand.

I was hoping to avoid the 'by hand' part! B)

Thanks!

Try batch processing to replace the range of BG colour pixels to transparent? In fact I think I'll try that today.

I've no idea how to do that but it sounds cool!

Basically, if you can process one image, you can apply the process to all images in a directory (and hope it works equally well on all of 'em). Was taken over by other issues this afternoon and didn't get to try. Perhaps tomorrow.

Are you using photoshop? If so, you can create an action that, say, selects the background color, inverts the selection, copies the selection to a new layer, deletes the original image, and then saves the background-less copy as a new image. Then you can just play the action on each new image and let PS do the grunt work for you.

This is a lifesaver when theme-ing.

^^^^
Last time I looked the "background colour" was a gradient of colours, so extracting the foreground pic was a real pain.

A long time ago the standard toolbar icons were published separately without the background button image. I wonder if that could be done again?

Hi Darkstar,

White Tie uploaded them in the stash, don't know where exactly, but I found these: uncomposited_main_toolbar_icons.zip,
Also found this: "toolbar_shapes.zip", but no link any more
Breeder uploaded: misc toolbar icons, misc icons.
Had the links still in my browser, so just copied them but if you search the stash for the uploads of WT, you have a good chance to find them again.

Hope that helps!

All of the main toolbar images from the V5 default theme were in the uncomposited_main_toolbar_icons link except for:

toolbar midi item select off/on

toolbar midi track sel off/on

I did those by hand...

Thanks! B)

I just wanted all of the toolbar icons to blend into the background (with no borders) unless selected. Now that they're updated to my liking they'll be easy to tweak / edit or create my own toolbar icons...

Sure, I'll be uploading a theme or two (hopefully) tomorrow. If that works for you...

FYI: the backgrounds of my edited toolbar icons are not transparent. The background color (RGB: 40 / 40 / 40) is slightly darker than the V5 default background color (RGB: 51 / 51 / 51), if I remember correctly. But, no gradients so they're easy to edit...

I have 5 - V5 theme variations that I've been working on... It should only be a few more days, tops. I'll put them all in one thread in this forum with info and pics...
