Default Reaper doesnt auto switch sample rate

In my settings I have set that reaper should request 96khz.
I've hit apply, ok and restart but nothing changes. It still records in 44.1 and in my "Focusrite Control" app the sample rate doesn't switch to 96khz either.

It just depends on the sound card. My Rme 9652 doesn't work either. It would be great to be able to switch between mastering and tracking modes and have the buffer switch automatically with a button click but such is not the life

On my Presonus 1818VSL I have to change it in the driver app, then open and close the Reaper audio interface preferences before it correcly displays the new sample rate. Not a big deal for me really.

All DAWs I've worked with can do this. Changing the sample rate in the DAW would change it in the driver automatically. And changing it in the driver software would at least be recognized in the DAW.
Reaper does so many things so much better programming wise than other DAWs.
I don't understand why such a feature is not supported.

That's not what I'm experiencing. My focusrite software is set to 96 and synced. My Audio/Midi Devices shows me that my interface is set to 96.
Reapers project settings still tell me 44.1 regardless of "Request sample rate" being on or off.

Do Reaper mods read these? I've heard again and again that the reaper team is awesome at responding to bug reports and fixing them immediately

you mention "request sample rate" so i assume you're talking about choosing the sample rate in Preferences, what do you have it set to in Project Settings (if anything)?
