Default help connecting a keyboard.

hello. i have gotten this keyboard working in the past but i cant figure ut why it wont work. im using a m-audio radium 49 key controller. spitfire audio labs is my plugin. i have everything setup right. record monitoring. i set my track to MIDI: Legacy keyboard all channels. i have input and output enabled in preferences. i can also click the virtual piano roll in my plug in and get sound but the keyboard wont do it.

You can track the midi signal with reacontrolmidi plugin. Insert it before your vsti to check if your keyboard's notes are getting there...

i have no idea hwo to do that. the red fader doesnt show input but if i manually click the keys with a mouse it works. so the signal isnt getting there

Reacontrolmidi is in your vst folder, it has a midilogger so you can see what's happening (click show log).
But you haven't the red flashing light, so there's a setup problem with your midi keyboard.
How is it set in your midi device preference ?
Is it used by another app ?

I had a similar problem with my maudio Radium 61 keyboard. I solved it by abandoning the nonfunctional maudio USB driver, using the 5 pin midi DIN output instead.

While people seem to like USB for midi, as far as I can tell it's just a stealth way of making the hardware obsolete as Windows versions change. I now refuse to buy any USB-only midi device.
