Reaper, Sforzando and a Roli Seaboard
Hi guys, forgive me a bit of a Reaper newb....
Loving Reaper, got my head around most of it and now my favourite DAW.... however...
I have a kinda unique setup/issue....
I am using a ROLI Seaboard (Blocks) sending 5D MPE data to reaper and this works great with my normal synths.... Equator, Cypher, Strobe etc.
I wanted a standard Grand Piano (to brush up on my chords and scales, been a while) so got some good SFZ files from Freepats ..... and downloaded the Sforzando SFZ player/plugin.... great!!
Sforzando and the SFZ files play fine in stand-alone mode with my Seaboard.....
Sforzando and the SFZ files play great as a Reaper VST plugin when using the virtual keyboard (and probably also the sequencer I suspect)
BUT....
When using Sforzando as the FX output and using the MPE/ROLI Seaboard as a midi input, Reaper crashes on the first keystroke.... every time!!
I know this is very niche ... but I have 3 products that all work in isolation, even with 2 of each of them in the pipeline... but all three together causes an instant crash in Reaper
Please, any advice or similar experiences will be appreciated.... failing that a recommendation of a good Reaper compatible SFZ player....
Thanks in advance
Chris

Mmhh, there must be something very mysterious
in your setting. What do you mean by "FX-output"?
Where did you insert Sforzando as FX?
I use Sforzando as FX in Reaper very frequently,
also with huge libraries. And I had not a single
crash.

I regularly do use Reaper with "normal" synth (e.g. Kontakt" libraries) with mySeaboard Rise 49. Reaper never crashes.
(But to get a decent live playing experience with the Seaboard MPE output and "normal Midi" synth, I needed to do a JSFX plugin as a Midi preprocessor (see ReaPack -> Midi MPE to single Channel. )

It is the FX buttonon the track next to mute and solo where you normally select your instruments and effects.... have you use Sforzando with a ROLI Seaboard.... it works for me with standard midi controllers.. just not the Roli SB

Hi Michael,
This sounds promising, only I cannot find Reapack, so sorry for a stupid question but where could I find the plugin? EDIT - scratch that found reapack - it's like Nuget for Reaper!! cool!!
Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for your help but no luck
Thanks enroe and mschnell .... really appreciate your answers.... but I have had no joy...
I have tried all suggestions permutations but still have the same result.... while I will continue to use Sforzando in a standalone capacity, I no longer really need it in Reaper....
.... as I said it was primarily for me to use a standard acoustic/grand piano to brush up on chords/progessions/scales, while recording progress, but I have now found the required pianos directly in the Roli native synth, Equator... (after facing a glitch with searching online instruments) ... this brings it all into place nicely in Reaper via a VST while supporting the native ROLI features
Regards
Chris
