Default Unexpected Ctrl-A Behavior

Watched a youtube tutorial for splitting & saving samples. When I got to the part where you select all the items in one of your tracks. my Ctrl+a does nothing, or alternatively selects all items in all tracks. When I conscientiously make sure nothing weird is happening on my tracks, and that I've selected just one track (no track is solo'd), still, Ctrl+a does not select all the items on that track..?

By default Ctrl+A is assigned to the Action 'Select all items/tracks/envelope points (depending on focus)', so selecting all Items on all Tracks is the default Behavior.

Selecting all Items on a single Track can be done by Double-clicking on an empty area in the Track Control Panel.

Otherwise can you post a link to this tutorial?

This has never worked for me. No matter what theme I'm using, it doesn't work.

Check your current Preferences > Mouse Modifiers for [Track control panel] [double click]. Default behavior is Select all media items on Track.

Yep. That's how it is set.

OK, very strange that it doesn't seem to be working then.

Some things you can check, in general:

- Does using a different Default Behavior for [Track control panel] [double click] work (like, for instance, 'Zoom view to Track')?
- Does it make any difference when assigning 'Select all media items on Track' to a [Track control panel] [double click] Mouse Modifier with a Modifier key (Shift, Alt, etc.)?

You can also use 'Select all media items on Track' as Behavior for [Mixer control panel] [double click] (for double clicking on a Track in the Mixer) ...

Otherwise can you post more details about your setup:

- Which operating system and Reaper version?
- Which Theme are you currently using?
- What are you using as input device (model name): mouse, touchpad, etc.?

None of the above worked but I didn't try them with the default theme, if that has anything to do with it. I'll test that later.

Win 7 Pro
Albert's Pro X Tools theme
Latest Reaper
Cheapo optical mouse - ONN?
