Default CodeMeter

Any ideas which music software uses Codemeter Runtime, which I think to be a virtual dongle app?

It installed itself on my system on 26th March, nothing else was installed that day. Could be an update from an earlier install?

Anyway- I installed Melodyne a few days after - can't be that. I have products from Izotope, PSP, NI, IK, Toneboosters, Melda, Addictive, Linplug and AAS amongst others.

I don't want to remove it and find I've crippled something, but on the other hand, if I don't need it...

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Doing a quick web search mainly comes up with Propellerhead and Magix.

Maybe try to disable the Codemeter process or service and see if anything 'breaks' (this way you can re-enable it if necessary) ...
What operating system are you using?

Trying that. See how things go today. The CodeMeter Control centre shows zero licenses registered to it. Strange- why would it install itself (I didn't actively install it) without being embedded in an app of some sort?

Win10. With which I have had a few issues lately- Start button doesn't work, and Sticky Notes not working. First a big nuisance, second not so, but I do use them. I'm using alternatives for both.

Anyway, thanks Solger for your input

Maybe using one of the Windows Process Utilities might help to find out if there are any specific things depending on the Codemeter process.

Just as example, something like Process Explorer: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...ocess-explorer

Certainly will have a look at those- though my techy abilities may be stretched! Meanwhile, back to doing some music, having disabled Codemeter.
Thanks again Solger.

SSL's Duende Native plugs used to use an actual Cm Stick or the virtual one, but they switched to iLok ages ago. Could this be a legacy hangover?
