Default REAPER .936 - bugs, comments and questions

REAPER .936 - bugs, comments and questions

- Rendering bugs fixed (now works great),but window/gfx drawing bugs are still there
- I don't know why,but REAPER can't even play anything when Audio set to DirectSound at 24bit/96000Hz.No sound output, playback cursor doesn't move at all on play. When I set both project and audio settings to 32 bit/96000 Hz,VU Meters and playback cursor move, but no sound at all.
- Bad DirectSound performance: Anything below 20ms produces noise and distortion instead of sound. FLStudio was rock-solid at 10ms on my machine and could even go down much lower (2ms) on a 3GHz P4 HT machine.
- When rendering track stems, the level meter in the render dialog always stays at -120 dB,even when rendering just one track as a stem without the full project.
- Are LAME and OGG Vorbis codecs included with REAPER? If they are not, where does it search for? If it uses those already installed with Windows or with a codec pack, can I choose my preferred version instead of that one? Where should I put those DLL or EXE files for REAPER to be able to use those?

I think the OGG is included but i'm not 100% sure
the LAME_enc.dll needs to be in the same dir as Reaper.exe

More bugs (0.936) :

- Another drawing bug case:Just look at the screenshot BUG3_After.png.This is with the unaltered default theme by Justin. This happens now by simply maximizing and restoring, not minimizing at all.
http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1143...BUG3_After.PNG

- A small thing I find annoying is the black lines separating the stereo track VU Meters in the dockable mixer window are not the same thickness as the ones in the side track mixers(they're twice as thick).Looks uneven when both mixers are visible.
- From the previous bug screenshot, you can see how the bug actually revealed one feature I was asking for a while ago: A custom color for the buttons When they are set to "always enabled" in the options. If I can just change the button color to a slightly darker/lighter shade than the default Windows' window color,it can look better.
- Another thing about ASIO performance in REAPER: With REAPER,no way I can get it below 2ms latency @ 16/48 , while in FLStudio,I could go as low as 0.6ms latency easily in threaded ASIO mode or 1ms in normal mode with an Audigy2 with kX drivers.Hmmm...

P.S. Only ersion 0.88 from the old files is not available for download. Was reaper088-smp09.zip the last one?

Fluffy,
Do yourself a MASSIVE favor and stop using a consumer audio card.

You can get an M-Audio Delta 2496 for under $100 these days.

It's Synth, not fluffy... I hear the new release of Asio4All fixes some Creative issues... but only some...

I'm testing with various hardware on different machines, from onboard crap,to consumer cards to (semi-) pro cards.
And it's not ASIO4ALL I've used in that case, but kX ASIO
This is the point of bug testing - to test with different kinds of hardware.

Even more bugs (0.937):

- A new bug (has been there for a long time): Ticking "Prompt To Confirm Filename using Open Copy In Editor" doesn't have any effect. The tickbox always resets back to unticked state after applying this setting and exiting REAPER.

- The old bugs from 0.936 are still there in 0.937.Here's some screenshots from 0.937 and those bugs appearing again: (XPSP2)
http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1144.../0937_bug1.png
http://www.stashbox.org/uploads/1144.../0937_bug2.png

- I'm seeing annoying flicker now during vertical track zoom adjustment due to (excessive?) multiple redraws.

- There's this what I call "smearing" bug when vertically moving the scrollbar a bit faster.
Here's a screenshot of this caught in action (very difficult to catch with Alt+PrScr):

I however noticed one bug less now - the bug with resizing the left-side track mixers appears fixed,as I now see one more quick redraw on resizing.
