Default Recording other apps

I'm messing around with Loopback for this but wanted to know if there was a simpler way to record audio from other apps?
Would love to be able to set an input and be able to record from an app like Farrago or QwertyGo! for podcast purposes?
Even Safari.
Thanks

Jack is another option, not sure if it's easier or faster than Loopback: http://www.jackaudio.org/

Virtual Audio Cable would work. https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/

If you're on a Mac (sounds like it, since you mention Safari), try Audio Hijack. I've been using it for a long time and it's fantastic. You can even set it up to record live broadcasts at a specific time, unattended. Can record from pretty much any app on your Mac.

Ah, okay -- I record system audio in Audio Hijack and open the recorded files in Reaper but it sounds like you want to do it in real time, sorry I misunderstood.

Yeah, apologies for not clarifying that. I'm looking to record a podcast and (in real time) drop in some actualities/sounds.

Ultraschall has the optional Ultraschall-HUB, which is designed for such things and more, like recording Skype conversations and such.

Get it at ultraschall.fm or from this link: http://files.rstockm.de/index.php/s/yYWoMqTp3bFSAKR

Install it by installing UltraschallHub.pkg in the installer-image(the other stuff you don't need to install, unless you want to use our fantastic-wonderful-Podcast-solution ) and restart Reaper.
After that, you have numerous "new" devices, you can put audio from/to.

Edit: if you want to use Ultraschall, you can only use Reaper 5.70 currently. But new version is coming soon...

Ultraschall is Win and Mac.

The Ultraschall-Hub is Mac-only.

I use Soundflower for this. I do it a lot.

I also create an aggregate audio device in macOs to include my interface. So input 1/2 is the loopback driver, and inputs 3-18 are my focusrite, which allows me to record BOTH the loopback and my instruments (plus monitoring!) simultaneously. Amazingly I dont perceive any latency.

I also use Quicktime 'New->Screen recording' to record the screen and audio. In those cases when I dont want to use Reaper to record the audio.
