It would also be great if we could toggle different parts of the docker system independently.
Now if you toggle the docker all docked windows do it together. It would be handy to make some stick and not toggle at all while others do toggle.
We need "docker groups" that we can assign different shortcuts to.
So that the docked transport bar is always visible while some toolbars toggle.

It would also be important to be able to have multiple docker on top of each other.
So far you can have multiple docker side by side in the top and bottom area but not on top of each other.

Another thing i think is important is the ability to not only dock to the main window but also to the floating mixer. I work with two monitors. One for the arrange and another for the mixer. A very common setup i guess. I would love to have some toolbars stick to the mixer on monitor 2.

+1 for embetterment of the docker. The inspiration could be Adobe Premiere.

Also, when anything is freely undockable, that would mean we would be able to dock reascript graphical windows anywhere.

I couldn't vote for it (HTTP 500 error)...

But I was asking for the same functionality just a couple days ago without knowing such feature request's been existed (for 8 years?!?).

At least, auto height / width(for users who plan their layout horizontally) for docker tabs. I dock mixer and MIDI editor in the same docker but every time I switch between those two, I have to adjust the height accordingly.

Screensets are just a partial solution and sometimes cause more trouble instead of easing.

Thanks.

Sorry for the bump, but wow I'm surprised that pesky main toolbar still can't be relocated even after it has been requested for over 8 years??? Insane. Personally, it just makes more sense to be directly on the unused space of the Transport Panel.

You can relocate it to a separate toolbar or a toolbar docker, but you cannot remove it.

Which completely defeats the purpose for me :')
I know I'm being super nitpicky but I work off a TV as my monitor that outputs to 1366x768 so things get congested a lot easier. I'll get used to it with time. Right now, its a bit challenging.

Sony Vegas does that at a certain level and its customization possibilities are pretty cool for that! +1

Surprised there's not much more resonance to this. Especially when working on a dual-monitor-setup, not being able to just freely dock any element in either window is one of the few serious flaws in Reapers UI(-management).

It's not fully implemented as per the original FR, but what I show in that screenshot is perfectly possible.

EvilDragon is so right about this.

Not only should pretty much anything be dockable and floatable, we should be able to have several instances of some of them.
For example, several TCPs and MCPs. You can have different tracks in different mixers and have a cubase-style TCP, and generalize this to every possible area.

I have trouble understanding how this is not implemented yet. Especially when I see that this thread is 10 years old.
This is a no brainer and is amongst the most urgent things to put in REAPER. It would take it from 92% perfect to 97% in one blow (the scale is subjective here but you get my meaning).
Seriously, wouldn't it crush the competition right then and there?

I tried to vote but it seems it doesn't work right. Maybe I missed something. But +1

Voting in the request tracker is deprecated.

Most UI arrangements are possible, though it's hardly perfect or consistent in its appearance to a high degree. It relies a lot on system widgets. That's really hard and cumbersome to write yourself when you have so many things you could do. Just ask Lokasenna who wrote one of the GUI libraries for the Lua scripting language in Reaper.

Because what else would go there instead? If you really need space, resize the whole TCP completely to the left and that area goes too.

totally agree,if we could place each "element"of the GUI where we would have it that would be so awesome.
but can imagine its not that simple though.

+1 for this FR!

I would also like to have the mixer 2x, once on the right for the selected track and then once the whole mixer in the lower docker.

I've a 42" screen, I wish I could dock more windows next to each other.

for example:
Media Browser (left) -> heda's track inspector (between) -> TCP

If we could have this type of UI in Reaper, it will be a breakthrough!
No need to discover the wheel.

The funny thing is we have custom toolbars but it is a bit sloppy.

We need every icon\action\macro on their own as a command-icon\hotkey (available already!), but the UI implementation is not there yet.

Also separate meta-data info or transport\time\punch fields (inputs): I would put those and a clock where now the Main toolbar is (the corner where timeline\region\marker fields and TCP intersect).

I would completely abandon the Transport (play\record icons etc. would be where I want them in other panels or on their own). This is some bullshit "analogue" or Cubase\Samplitude\Vegas copycat concept.

check, check, one, two, six, six, six...
