Up and Running, but with a question
Hey y'all,
So I'm happy to say that, after several hours of teaching an old dog (myself) new tricks, I finally have my Behringer X Touch working very nicely in Reaper with the Klinke plugin.
All the functions shown in the Klinke manual work, and I've been able to program the "Global View" buttons to handle a myriad of tasks. It really is an amazing piece of work, and I will definitely be making a donation.
My one question has to do with a "wish-list" item. I know that there's also the CSI project (by Geoff Waddington). I don't know a lot about this system yet, but I'm assuming that it's an alternative to the Klinke setup, yes?
I watched a brief video on it that showed a bit of how to get it going, but I haven't tried messing with it yet at all. So I have no idea what the mapping has in common with Klinke or how it differs. The one thing I have read are comments to the effect of "with the CSI, just about anything is possible." And that's what peaked my interest.
The wish-list item I have has to do with the navigation buttons (up, down, left, right arrows). After messing with Studio One for a bit, I noticed that the arrow keys in that DAW work differently than in Reaper. In Reaper, they're basically used to scroll horizontally or vertically, but in S1, they're used to move and select items/tracks. And when using the X Touch with S1 in the standard Mackie Control mode, this is the way the arrow buttons worked, too, which I loved.
I really like this behavior, as it would help make editing (the kind I do anyway) pretty much a mouse-free experience for me, which is always my goal.
So I'm wondering if there's any way to alter the Klinke system for this behavior in Reaper or if this kind of thing would be possible with the CSI system. I'm not really a coder, but I can figure things out if shown the way.
I guess I'm just asking what would be involved to make this happen if it is possible.
Thanks much for any help.
