Default An option to change the default template paths

I have two discs on my PC - Disc C - where my Windows is, and disc D, where my REAPER is. Since I don't want to keep valuable data on disk C, I want to put all my REAPER files on disc D. That's why I've created the following directory structure on my disc D:
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Projects\Metal\Album 1
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Projects\Metal\Album 2
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Projects\Jazz\Album 1
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Projects\Funk\Album 1
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\Project\Metal (my project templates)
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\Project\Jazz
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\Project\Funk
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\Track (My track templates)
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\FX (My FX templates)
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\FX Chain\Bass\Funk (My FX chain templates)
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\FX Chain\Bass\Jazz
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\FX Chain\Guitars\Heavy
D:\Workspace\REAPER\Templates\FX Chain\Guitars\Clean

When I try to save a file as a template, I am always sent to the default template directories of REAPER, which are in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\etc... Then, I have to switch every time to my disc D, which is very annoying.

The worst thing is that the templates are not found when I click for example on File -> Project templates. Even worst - as long as I know the templates which not resemble in the REAPER specific directories are not baked up with the project.

Is it possible for you to add a new feature for each of the aforementioned elements (project templates, track templates etc) in Options -> Preferences, to set a new default root template path?
So, for example if I set my default root path for the project templates to D:\dir1\dir2, all sub-directories for this path to be searched for project templates.

Have you tried doing a portable install already ? (there's a tickbox when installing Reaper).
Should then work as you want I think.

No, I haven't. And I didn't think of that when I was installing REAPER. Does someone else has my issue? How are you arranging your templates?

I'd like this feature too.

I work on my desktop and then when away from use my laptop with all my files on google drive. It works well with all my plug-ins, files etc backed up in the cloud and both machines on the D: Drive

The issue here is the templates can't be located on my google drive or D Drive so i can share them between instances while also backing them up in the cloud.

I can't see it being difficult to achieve. Similar to telling Reaper where to look for plugins.

Any way, on a portable install, to set an absolute folder path for Project and Track Templates? instead of whereever the Portable install folder happens to be moved to?

Thanks guys!
