2 Finger Chord VST? [solved]
Is there something like this around? Don't want to have to specify a key or have chord progression suggestions.
Basically just want a VST like this: one button or the mouse determines the chord type/scale, and the piano key determines the root note. The idea is to get familiar with the sound of different chord types and be able to quickly experiment with them to do progressions intuitively (with minimal piano skills), following single note lines.
Ideally there should be some possibility of randomized inversions.
Or is chord theory much too complicated for such a simple tool to exist?
Closest one I've found is ToneSpace 2, but it doesn't seem to allow changing scale on the fly. Something similar to this would work (point at the chord type or scale with the mouse and play a note on the keyboard).
Thanks for any suggestions!
Found it: Chordit

Oops, didn't mean ta double post...
Seems kinda obvious though, dunnit? Just like intervals, each chord type has its own sound. Something like this would make piano more like guitar (same shape every time).

My yamaha keyboard does this in accompaniment mode, generates major chords for one key and minor for two, dim for a #4, aug for a #5, and sevenths. Pretty smart but I never learned to use it intuitively.

@bobobo
Thanks but that's the usual one finger chord where you have to choose the key first.

So far, ToneSpace is the closest I can find, but the functionality is opposite of what I need. You can use the mouse pointer to change the note or chord your play. I'd rather play the correct note and point at the scale/chord type with them mouse.

Did you ever get this working? I installed the demo of this and Instascale and I can't get either to do a damn thing in Reaper.

Been a bit busy with my health issues and of course Brexit so I forgot all about it. Busy all this week but will have a go as soon as I can.

Chordit does this. I had it all along but never knew how to use it. It's free. You get to choose an octave of your keyboard, each key of which can be assigned a chord type to be played on the rest of the keyboard. Perfect.

Torn between buying this for $8 & change and having another play with Chordit.
Spose I could do both... if I have time.
Fox you have tried both and chosen Chordit. Any particular reason for your preference?

Well I bought InstaChord and just like InstaScale I was a bit disappointed. Seems like you can do more with it than you actually can. If you got Chordit working the way you want, there's probably not much reason to get this...I honestly might just go back to using it.
For example, all of the presets in the Instachord bundle are specific chord progressions that have no relationship to the keys they're assigned. On Chordit, I had one octave to choose chord types and one to play them at any note-position, which is intuitive to me. I haven't managed to do that with Instascale and I'm still not sure I can.
In any case, check out the demo first. I think the Insta plugs are very use-specific, tailored for noobs and maybe can't be used for the more general tasks I would expect from them.
In the end I can't really recommend the Insta plugs. There are more things I don't like about them than I do...e.g. The UI can only be 100% (too small) or 200% (doesn't fit on my perfectly average resolution screen), no options in between. Then you'll have dropdown menus where there are only two choices...toggle button? No, that would make too much sense... List goes on...
Ivansc - if it's a time consideration, skip this. It took me a minute to figure out Chordit as well, but I can tell you how to set that up if you want. InstaChord isn't very instant as it turns out. And twelve chord shapes is plenty for me, so I only had to do that once for Chordit. If I can get InstaChord doing both the chord and scale tasks like I thought it could, I might change my mind...
Here's how I set up Chordit (click chord setup in the bottom-right)
Basically, you just enter the numbers for the chord shapes you want on the keys you want to switch with, or select them from the list.

Was beginning to suspect this based on my research on the net...
Interesting stuff though.
