Default Batch Renaming

Hey,

I was really surprised that REAPER doesn't have a batch renaming system for track names (at least I wasn't able to find one).

It would be a tremendous time saver to have a system that can add, replace and trim (from start and end) text and numbers.

Benefits are obvious. Next time you receive a session that has a naming scheme like "Rockstar - MyRockinTune - 01 - Kik" and has 80 tracks like that, you won't have to activate your superhuman muscle memory in the track manager.

SWS extensions has a label processor that allows some smart renaming like that.

Thanks, I actually didn't see that before, but I think it is just for renaming media items. At least I couldn't figure out how to rename track names. Even if it is somehow possible, it is not as user friendly as it should be. I think for a DAW that is supposed to be super efficient (not only performance- but workflow-wise) a comprehensive renaming system is a must. As I said, I was really surprised that REAPER doesn't have it. Check out "ProTools Batch Renaming" on youtube. Pure bliss!

Thanks EpicSounds, I will check out the suggested script.

You also have a track batch renamer with my https://www.extremraym.com/en/downlo...nced-renamers/ pack. Just simple suer input, but with lots of wildcards and counter possibility.

Awesome! This is what I wanted, minus the "special character" complication. You have to put a % before every -,(,) and some others in order to get it replaced. Other than the script is great! It wasn't that easy to find, I first got v1.0 from the Stash (and found a picture of 2.8 there), maybe that isn't used anymore? I found it in collaboration with gianfini on github (v2.88), copied it into a .txt and renamed to .lua.

I still think there should be a proper feature like this in stock REAPER. With matching GUI and no magic character nonsense. Just make some buttons for those options.

Thanks again! This will save a ton of time.

I've only used it briefly this week to remove track numbers from track names.

Using ReaPack to manage installing scripts and their updates is recommended.
