make a mp3 from reaper
tell me, what do you folks use to make a mp3 file from a reaper project file...
i have songs ready for other folks to hear so as they might improvise guitar & drums parts...
what i'm looking for is the simplest way to make a mp3 from reaper project files... -or- the method/software you use to get a better quality mp3..............& a kinda,,, how u do it..............
thread is open... in hopes we can all learn something new from the vast experience of fellow reaper-ites .................
thank,
ted

If you try to export an mp3 from REAPER it will show you this dialog:
Click on the "Download lame_enc.dll" button and you'll be directed to a page called:
http://aegiscorp.free.fr/lame/
Just download the proper archives from that page (according to your OS and REAPER version, 32 bit or 64 bit) and put the file(s) in your REAPER installation directory (hint: where your "reaper.exe" is).
That should make you export mp3 from now

thanks,
that was easy..however, final result, for me, was a mp3 file for each track...
what i want to do, is create a stereo, mp3, of the entire song, including
mastering effects....
in tha past, i've been recording a reaper project to my outboard sony, then placing data as a wav file on computer & then converting file to mp3... long handed way...........
is there some way i can get the result i need using your method??
thanks,
ted

i used the render & have a stereo mp3 file on disk of a reaper project....
i use purewave asio drivers.. the signals from these drivers bypasses the windows kernal ... purewave drivers provide the most direct routing for computer based recording, developed by echo, they were used on the old layla 20 interfaces..
bottom line is, when using purewave drivers, i have no access to output signal for winamp, window players & such,,,
so to test, i'd need a mp3 player that had asio outputs...
this is so complicated !!!
i guess i could move mp3 file to my reamote computer & play there, but i am really trying to all this to work on 1 computer..
i could switch asio drivers back & re-gain control over winamp or windows player... really don't see any upside to doing that..
anyway,
got this far...
many thanks,
ted

i could not believe that winamp has a asio plugin for their player...
downloaded & installed....
works perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PROBLEM SOLVED..................
thanx mercado & brainwreck..
i can now make mp3 files out of reaper & with the winamp plugin i can play mp3 thru my studio amp/speakers,,, don't care much about quality as these mp3's will be sent over internet to be used by others to rehearse original tunes.. mp3's will be sent, maybe, less a bass, or a guitar or drum licks.....
this is better than chocolate ice cream....

ted
