Default Trunk ‘n’ trailer quantization

Hi, how are you?
When we have a MIDI recording, which is considerably bearable, but needs to be a little tightened up to sound decent,
and we don’t want to quantize the life out of it,
we might use, for example, 70% quantization.
But the recording may have stuff like drum rolls or chords like this:

(All the notes happened to have the same velocity because they were played on a PC keyboard,
don’t try this at home.)
Now, what happens if we apply 70% quantization?

Eww, we don’t want that, do we?
So, we need only certain notes (the “trunks”) to be quantized
and the rest of the notes in their groups (the “trailers”) to follow their “trunks” (to change their own positions relatively).
Is there a way to achieve that? Of course there is.

We can copy our “trunks” (somewhere vertically — for example,
Edit: Duplicate events one octave higher),
mute the copies (just in case),

quantize them

and then process one group of notes at a time:
move the cursor to one of the muted copies
(Navigate: Move edit cursor to start of selected events),

select the corresponding notes and run Stevie’s script
sr_Move notes to edit cursor (relative).lua

When all the groups of notes are done we may even remember to delete the muted copies.

There! That’s how we can “trunk ‘n’ trailer” quantize.
Unless, of course, there’ll be a more convenient way to do it )
Thanks )
