Default Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 vs M-Audio FTU - help?

I am just buying another soundcard, that would fit my needs for more preamps and good sound (what is that again???
so I have done some test with both and would like a confirmation if I hear correctly or not.

I will post here 3 audio samples of each soundcard, taken at the same moment, so they should sound the same or almost the same (because technically it was two separate matched microphones, but put at the same angle and distance from the sound).

I would like you to guess which one of the three tests sounds better (please ignore the hum that came with some grounding problems).

COMPARISSON N1:

COMPARISSON N2:

http://www.claripiano.net/test_4.wav

COMPARISSON N3:
http://www.claripiano.net/test_5.wav

And yes, I know I should buy a Prism, but is there any with so many ins and outs? What is it anyway with all those preamp and converter stories? How much can be here in this test a converters fault or how much better can a Prism preamp really be? Are there any audio samples made with such similar comparissons?

Ok, I see, noone is interested in this.

However can someone help me clear up something here:
My M-audio has approx. 5,5dB more preamp gain than Scarlet 18i20, turning the volume knob totally on.
This is hardly enough for my Ribbon with FetHead amplification (+20dB) on Scarlet.
The Focusrite support answered me:

"There is no way to apply 'more gain'. The gain knob on all our interfaces operates from the lowest to highest sensitivity, but as pointed out by Miles, is a log pot and so most of the gain is usable within the top 1/3rd of the gain pot.

I can't comment on other interfaces, we don't have those to test. However, the sensitivity provided by our pre-amps should be more than ample for most users. I can't comment for your particular use, but the more gain, the higher the noise floor. This is something we aim to avoid.

The 18i20 actually provides 8dB more headroom due to the onboard PSU than the 2i2."

So where is there any headroom, if the 2i2 works the same way as my M-Audio, amplifying the microphones for some 5dB more than 18i20?

Please help?

I'm quite happy with my new Scarlett 2i4. I got it on a recommendation. I've previously only owned M-Audio stuff, but it seems a lot of people prefer Focusrite these days.

I'm quite happy.
