Default Inserting an MP4 Video into Reaper Track

Downloaded a video from YouTube as an mp4. Inserted it into a track in Reaper 64x v4.0(?) - the waveform looked strange with large flatline area but the audio played nicely.

Then updated to Reaper 64x 4.402. Removed the mp4 track, reinstalled it and waveform looked very good, however it plays with a loud rumble.

All else seems ok. Any ideas.

The blue link below provides some info on video, but actually you'd just be better off separating the audio from the MP4 with MPEG Streamclip, and pull the fader down on the video track.

I never, EVER rely on the audio in MP4 videos. If I want an accurate reference I always decode the audio to a separate audio file and place that on another track.

That's the best advice I got.

Darn you guys in this forum are good! A quick conversions from mp4 to mp3 was just what the doctor ordered. I am very very grateful.

If at all possible you should avoid mp3 for this, wav is much better, mp3 can have frame by frame timing issues, so if accuracy is needed on a frame by frame basis you should stick to wav
