Default Reaper not recognizing Korg Padkontrol

Windows 7 32
Korg Padkontrol (white) with windows xp drivers on disc
Installed/uninstalled/restarted multiple times both new drivers from the site

The Padkontrol is not recognized in any daw I have tried. I did a google search and lots of people have had the same problem.

anyone had this happen and found a fix that worked??

I know this is going to sound like a PITA....But you need to uninstall all MIDI devices/drivers. Then install the Korg driver as the first MIDI device. After that it will work.

In case that wasn't clear....Remove ALL MIDI drivers/devices and then install the Korg driver.

I had the exact same problem when I picked up a padkontrol a few months back. I uninstalled my Akai keyboard, MOTU MIDI interface, and BCR2000 and then was able to install the padkontrol and have it work.

Okay. got it working. had to set it to padkontrol port A instead of the first option of padkontrol midi in. ?? what kind of bs is all of this? wtf.now to find/download and reinstall all the drivers I had to uninstall. what a piece of shit.

next issue

does the "roll" button only work on the cymbal 4 in ezdrummer? the roll pad should work with any pad no?

Pad 14 is the only one doing a roll... Reaper and Fl studio

Try seeing if Midi-Ox, or any midi monitoring software, is receiving notes from the PK. If it is then the problem is not with the PK or it's driver.

can someone.. if you get a chance. try doing rolls with all the pads and see if the rolls work with all the pads? mine is only working on pad 14. I did a manual reset on the padkontrol and still the same.

What is really funny is that the NanoPad (in fact the whole Nano series) is a piece of cake to get going!

I almost bought the pad control & now I am rather glad I didnt!
Wonder what changed in Korg`s software between the nano and the regular pad to make it such a pain?

The padkontrol is a pretty serious piece of gear with all sorts of programmability.

It's been awhile since I've looked at it, but I believe you have to assign pads to be "roll" capable.

You also need to assign the pads to be the MIDI notes that you want. I created a padkontrol preset for use with Superior Drummer that gives me kick/snare/rimshot and variations of hat/ride on the bottom two rows, the third row up is toms 1-4, and the top row is cymbals left to right. I assigned rolls to cymbals and snare.

Get the MIDI implementation for EZ Drummer(it should have a table of what notes are what) and pick out what elements you want mapped where.

I don't recall anything being too difficult to implement on the padkontrol once I got Reaper to see it.

When in doubt, a quick read through the manual should get you going.

I presume that you have tried this:

If that does not work, then it may well be broken?

Here is the reply I got. for anyone else looking.

"You might have reached the 10 driver limit in Windows. Please perform the following:

Disconnect the nano, then go to My Computer, open the Program Files (x86) folder, then the KORG folder, then the KORG USB-MIDI Driver folder. There you should find UnInstDrv.exe. Please run this, click “Next,” and you should see a list of MIDI entries that can be uninstalled. Check every one of the ones that mentions your nano, then click “Next” again. Click “OK” to confirm.

Then, go to the Start menu, type “regedit”, and press Enter.
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, then Microsoft, then Windows NT, then Drivers32.
You should see midi1, midi2, all the way up to midi9. One of them will reference Korg in the “Data” field.
Delete the entries that reference KORG.

Next, reconnect the nano, and run the “Install KORG USB-MIDI Device” utility to install the nano again."
