Default Freeze last frame and have it fade

This may be a very basic question, and perhaps it's been answered here and I just don't know the right question or terminology to search for it.

I have a short video, and I'd like to basically end on the last frame and have that frame sit there for a few seconds and then fade.

I know how to do the fade, but I cannot work out how to simply copy/paste an individual frame and/or have the last frame get repeated for a few seconds.

Is this doable, and if so, how? The basic question I guess is how do I copy an individual frame and paste it onto the end of a video file. But that may not be how a video editor does things, and I'm happy to be corrected.

Thanks

There are some ideas here https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=214233

One way is to use my Freeze Frame preset. EpicSounds gives a manual way that is useful if you only want to freeze a single frame.

Actually it is quite simple! Split your video item on the desired frame, select the new item->item properties->set play rate=0 and fade out like usual.
