Guitar Plug-in worth looking at. Tonelib GFX
Hey all,
Hope this is not old news. Some say free, other say n demo last past 30 days, so far I am liking it very much and if it continue to work in a new project, it will replace my HX Stomp. This GTR plug-in was a simple click install in Ubuntu Studio. https://tonelib.net/ My HX Stomp is frowning right now. If you are into metal then this may be a good demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2yPy-dqxOw Or maybe not metal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfVgIyTRmec BTW this Youtuber has an excellent tutorial on using all stock Reaper plug-ins for mastering. Since discovering JS Saturation I don't need any black boxes with white knobs! peace! Also: After installing the ToneLib GFX plug-in the default Ubuntu VST folders are located here usr/lib/vst. So add that to your Reaper VST scan list. Just learned this. Last edited by obx777; 09-17-2021 at 07:51 PM. |

It`s been around for several years if memory serves.
Funnily enough, I just downloaded it again to try it in Linux too. From what I can remember it was OK, but since I don`t use distortion or overdrive much, I probably won`t be using it a lot... Have fun with it. I DO remember it being very well behaved in terms of reliability, though if that helps.

Isn't it a commercial plugin, though? With 30 day free evaluation...

Hello,
At first I heard it was free, then I heard someone say on Linux it would never expire, and yes I heard someone say in a video it was a demo. I like it so much so far my HX Stomp may go for sale. I'll edit the FREE part in my post. Thanks! |

IIRC, when it launched it was free for a limited time... And I totally neglected to grab it at the time...

Version 3.8.2 was free, at least for Linux. I use it sometimes when I've tracked a guitar though an amp and later wish it had a little more drive.

Here's an older version (Last one that was free), still sounds very good to my ears.

Quality hardware can provide great inputs to drive other virtual amps and effects. Just another way to create create unique tones never heard before.
And often quite easily. I wouldn't be in a rush to sell, but you know what's what, and there are people and charities needing donations. Cheers |

I installed in when it was free, still use it. Really useful and sounds good. I've been using it during the pandemic as my guitar rig when our band practices and plays "gigs" using Jamulus.
Easy preset switching. MIDI configurable, so I've got buttons on my MIDI controller or on footswitches turning pedals on and off, an expression pedal for volume and wah, etc. Yeah, it's great. $0.02 |

For those in the look for a guitar Amp Suite that works in Linux (Not bridged) with tons of amps, cabs and pedals. This one is on offer. I got it a year ago and works very well with no glitches.

Finished an experimental track with the all Linux setup (Unbuntu Studio, Ugritone KVLT Drums(the new old ones), and the ToneLib GFX plug in.
Needs work still, but happy to be all-in on Linux now, and native. Thank you folks for your help! https://marauderus.bandcamp.com/trac...-linux-edition cos |
