Default What method do YOU use for naming your tracks?

I was just curious how a lot of you have decided to name your tracks that works for you and why?

The reason I am asking is because I download the music for the songs I like to sing and if I were to spell out the entire name of some of the instruments, some of them are way too long to fit, at least in the mixer section of the GUI.

So, do you all have some sort of special codes or groups of letters that you use?
For examnple, here is a list of just a few of the ones I have. How would you name your tracks for these?

Clearly, some of them are not a problem.

On MY Track list, in the mixer section, the ones below with XXX are too long to see the entire name of the instrument:
  1. Acoustic Guitar - XXX
  2. Bass
  3. Brass
  4. Drums
  5. Electric Guitar - XXX
  6. Electric Piano - XXX
  7. French Horn - XXX
  8. Glockenspiel
  9. Harp
  10. Oboe
  11. Percussion
  12. Piano
  13. Strings
  14. Synth Keys
  15. Synth Strings
  16. Synthesizer - XXX
  17. Tambourine - XXX
  18. Vocal

Thanks for your feedback...

I use a convention which names instrument group first & then type.

My first letter which always a minor case represent the instrument. Then category then what it doing

gEl Rhythm
gAc Strum
bEl DI
bEl Amp
bSynth

So that way I can Sort everything alphabetically and have my tracks together.

Instrument + Source and before hitting record so that it names the files the same as the tracks:

ElecGtr-API1-R121
ElecGtr-API2-SM57
AcGtr-NEVE2-KM184
Martin-P1-WA87
LdVox-UFX-CV12

Sometime in the distant future, I'll run across the files and wonder how I recorded what, this self-documents the filenames for me even if I don't have the RPP.

My method is a bit more complex, but it deals with situations where I may be collaboration with others --- so we will need to know the Band Name and Song Name -- as well as Dates.

And so, all the source files have the BAND NAME - SONG NAME in front. This is the case in the MEDIA file, but is not needed in the Reaper DAW, because of automatic naming in the Render presets.

Automated in the RENDER function presets with:

$project- $track if rendering tracks/stems

$project- $year-$month-$day if rendering songs

With the project name always being Band name - Song name

For example:

A project would be called: Conscious Grooves - The Great Divide

Therefore, a rendered track would come out as:

Conscious Grooves - The Great Divide - Guitar Electric Main.wav

And a rendered song:

Conscious Grooves - The Great Divide - 2018-05-15.mp3

* with added (v2) if I rendered two song mixes in the same day

Example of source files, for example:

PreMaster

FX Bus
Room Verb
Hall Verb
Vox Verb
Delay

Guit Bus
Guit Acoust Main Pickn
Guit Acoust Main Strum
Guit Acoust Riff1
Guit Elect Main Pickn
Guit Elect Riff1
Guit Elect Distort
Guit Elect Solo

Bass Bus
Bass Main
Bass Alt

Keys Bus
Keys Wurl
Synth TalSinWave

Drum Bus
Drum Kick
Drum Snare
.
.
.
Vox Bus
Vox Main
Vox DelayThrow
Vox BckHi
Vox BckLow
.
.
.
