Default CPU Overload

Hello there, this is my first post here and, unfortunately, it concerns a problem. This is my DAW:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
MB: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
RAM: Corsair 16 Gb DDR3
GPU: Radeon HD 5770
Sound Card: TC Electronic Impact Twin

I run Reaper 64 bit with Windows 7. The problem is simple: when I start a project (44,1 kHz/24 Bit) with more than 30/40 tracks, the CPU usage arrives to 100%, with obvious problems of buzzings and general slowdowns. I tried every kind of buffering's settings, but nothing seems to work. Any idea?
It's hard to think that the Phenom II is worst than my old Q6600...

Thank you in advance for every contribution!

p.s. the Cool N'Quiet option is already disabled in the BIOS.

Check what ASIO buffer setting you are using.

That will max you out in a heartbeat if you re using lots of virtual instruments with a low ASIO buffer setting.

I have never needed to alter the other buffer settings from the factory settings.

Thanks for asking! I tried every buffer size in the Tc Electronic Control Panel (also 2048 samples), but the problem still haunting me. And, by the way, I work mainly with real instruments tracks, occasionally I use SS4.

The strange thing is that the CPU usage rears suddenly without notice,
even just doing a listening. It drives me crazy.
